McKenzie 50 off 207 balls
(with a sense of trepidation) ... what is the slowest ever century in terms of balls faced?

also only Australia (in 1989 Marsh and Taylor) have batted for an entire day of Test cricket in England without losing a wicket....

Can anyone else recall a more boring day of test cricket?
Still awhile to go but you just can't see anything happening...

If we draw this. Nay, when we draw this, it'll be as bad as losing. We'll be crushed. I wouldn't be surprised if SA win the rest of the series 3-0 aided by the boost they'll get here.

Can't believe cu(n)tmonkey's got a hundred. Horrible day of Test Cricket. Game's pretty much gone - this attack hasn't got 10 wickets in it on a flat-'un. All the pacers are absolute fodder.

Don't think they'll score 300 in a day though as those two did at Trent Bridge. Sobers and Worrell batted through two days (although a rest day intervened and the last hour of the second day was lost to rain) when adding 399 for the 4th wicket against England at Bridgetown in January 1960.
As might be expected this is a new Saffie record for the 1st wicket at Lord's beating the 133 by Smith and Gibbs on the last tour in 2003. Some way to go to beat the overall Saffie record for the opening partnership of 338 made by Smith & Gibbs in the previous match at Edgbaston on that tour. Is there enough time left for Smith & McKenzie to beat their 415 against the Bangas?

Monty bowling outside the right handers' leg stump won't make a difference.

Think this just about guarantees a Fredalo recall for next week. Whether that's at the expense of Colly or one of the bowlers remains to be seen.Augustus wrote:Can't believe cu(n)tmonkey's got a hundred. Horrible day of Test Cricket. There goes the match then. We would have had the new ball at the new batsman if he'd caught it.

Smith gone. Ambrose's drop didn't cost a thing.
Gave it away, did Sooky.
Thank f*ck for that.

Thankfully it wasn't expensive, but I'm annoyed that it wasn't KP that got Smith, would have been quality.

We know that from the last ODI against the Kiwis.

Who is broadcasting this? I finally got the TV hooked up and can't find anyone showing the series.

Well, just the same as all the others we've had since Stewart I suppose... so, who's next in line? Is there an England-qualified county keeper who hasn't had a go yet?

No thanks. I want a TV channel. I get Fox Sports, Ten Sports and Neo Cricket and none of them seem to be showing the series.

That Ambrose fella's rubbish. Can't bat, not much of a keeper either. Definitely not a natural anyway, even if he has been passable so far.

Davies of Worcester springs to mind although if Ambrose is replaced before the end of the series (which is unlikely) the next-in-line look to be Foster of Essex or Read of Notts who have both played before (although Foster only as a stand-in for Stewart on the last Ashes tour but one).
