FFS, if Fred hadn't thrown it away, he and Broad could have done some serious damage. We could have been defending a massive lead of 50 or something.
Oh well. "Lost by 10 wickets" sounds better than "Lost by an innings". Only just though.

Not sure Fred was doing. Or Ambrose. Suppose they thought they were in...

Uhh, yes Nass.

This is a bit like Southee's antics in New Zealand. Except the shots are far classier.

Oh yeah, the boy can play. Dedication, devotion. Turning all the night time into the day.
I had barely finished reading the first of these 3 sentences and the song was playing in my head.

Triple hat-trick for Pattinson. England win by 2 runs.

I hope that squinty shit doesn't get a bowl. I'd open with Monty. Or Strauss. Or some other twat that failed miserably with the bat.

Nice knock from Broad. The thing I likes about him is he plays like a batsman rather than a lower order slogmeister....

He reminds me so much of his father when he bats.
I just wonder if he might get found out (a little bit) with the short ball aimed at his hip in the future though.

I'd open the bowling with Broad here too.

Possibly, but I'm quite impressed by the way he likes to get behind the ball...

I'd open the batting with Makhaya Ntini and Dale Steyn.

Would be a quality sight, Steyn facing Strauss.

Smith and McKenzie opening? What a lack of imagination.

I think he probably needs a break, it's just not happening for him with the ball at the moment and it won't do him much good to just see his average climb up into the 50s and beyond. There will be a major temptation for the selectors to keep him in because of his batting though.Basil wrote:The conundrum with Broad is that he is in the side as a bowler, but has bowled poorly in this game, and it should be remembered that these runs while pretty to look at are fairly meaningless in the context of the game.
Can Broad be persisted with in the short term? definitely not as part of a four man attack IMO.
The bowling line-up needs freshening up, with 4 Tests in 5 weeks we perhaps need to rotate it a bit and give one or two others a go.

Oh yea definitely.
Its not that I think he might be gun-shy just that its the only small technical glitch I could imagine him having at the moment.
And to be fair its quite a common thing amongst batsmen who are so tall.

Well played Saffers, you were all over us like a rash in this test match.

This was just what I expected the first Test to be, it just happened a week late... I predicted 3-0 I think before the series began and it's still on the cards. Our only hope is SA's record of throwing away series leads in England in recent times.
Some tough decisions for the selectors ahead, there's question marks against virtually every individual now as well as the balance of the side.

Our batsmen have to start making bigger scores and our bowlers have to start looking more penetrative.
Apart from that.... everything is perfick!

HAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
Man of the match goes to Prince. Wonder why it didn't go to the player who scored more runs and took a blinder of a catch?
I repeat:
