No link but - Gayle may have quit as Windies captain

The rumour is all over Caribbean message boards. Apparently one radio station has carried the news.

This would be bad bad news as he is a very good captain when given the right players to lead.

We need some stability to help continue the progress we are making in test cricket, and changing captains every 2 tests will not help at all.

Why has he quit though?

He has not really dealt very well with the media, and he feels under pressure. He is respected in the dressing room and has the support of his team-mates because he says what he thinks and treats everyone the same.

This is all very well, but it has got him into trouble with the WICB and the local media. He is also pretty pissed off with the selection process as the recently retired selectors Greendige, Roberts and Butts (widely referred to as the 3 blind mice) did pretty much the opposite of what he requested in selection meetings and chose to experiment in our ODI series with Australia, resulting in a 5-0 drubbing that he felt was avoidable.

who will take over wifan?...sarwan?

Surely Sarwan is the only logical choice, no one else has really played enough tests, and I dont see them going for Chanders again. Perhaps Bravo, but thats a brave choice in my opinion... still a bit too young and exuberant.
