OK - back to the 470s. It seems that Aust girls only have to finish 9th or better out of 10 in the final race to win gold or have the second place team not win the final race.
The men will have something similar but probably not yet as certain.

That race was so close, it was virtually impossible to tell if the Kiwis had beaten the flagging German team. The British boat was only a couple of feet behind too.
