...or the Poms try to regain Jamaica?
Well they ARE still part of the Commonwealth.....
More than that - Queen Elizabeth is still their Head of State.

He'd have been Ben Johnson if he wasn't Seppo. Now he's shitting our news coverage with his crap.skully wrote:Aye. Interestingly Lewis tested positive 3 times but the "cheat" label never stuck to him, then he has the hide to come out and question Usain's cleanness. I dunno if Bolt is clean or not but he has never registered a blip in any test, so it's rich for Carl to point fingers at him. I'd be shat off too. Bolt hates the man.G.Wood wrote:skully wrote:I see Carl Lewis and Usain Bolt are all handbags at ten paces at the moment.
It must irk carl that despite what he achieved nobody ever liked him (I reckon people still prefer Ben Johnson) and Bolt is the most liked person on the planet

Yes, it was a pretty catty discussion when it came to Carl Lewis. I half expected one of them to throw in a "don't go there girlfriend" at some point.

Whats with the K1 200m sprint ? I can jog it as fast as those guys.
What a pointless event.
What a pointless event.
Re: Olympics 2012 (III)
What's the breeze like in Blighty? Our 470 sailors could do with a bit of what is knocking Sydney about at the moment, after yesty's postponement. All being equal, the lads race for Gold (only need to stay one behind the Brits, or better) at 9.00 pm AEST.

Yeah....but its over before it begins.
Re: Olympics 2012 (III)
By the way, how funny is the 4 x 400m? I saw it live at Sydney and it reminded me of keystone cops once they are allowed to run out of their lanes. It is probably because it is the fastest event where everyone is running in single file.

Don't get me wrong. I agree it is a pretty cheap gold.

Interesting interview with Linford Christie on Gem. Said he agrees with Bolts comments re: Carl Lewis & said he wished he could add a few of his own....OUCH!!
Re: Olympics 2012 (III)
Yahoo US has been quite critical of Bolt for daring to criticise their beloved legend.

The Aussie is already out of the C1 200 and the other Aussie is just about the slowest qualifier for the K1 200.
Seems that yesterday was a fluke of gargantuan proportions.

Has anyone ever proved steroid use with Lewis, or is it just a couple of tin-pot stimulants that they have pinned on him?tricycle wrote:He'd have been Ben Johnson if he wasn't Seppo. In the Ben Johnson case it was interesting to read that the drug he actually tested positive for in Seoul was not the one he was systematically taking, in fact it was a very easily detectable one that you'd have to be pretty stupid to take, and probably was down to spiked food or drink. But if it hadn't been for that apparent act of sabotage he might have got away with what he had been doing for years. Were the Americans behind that I wonder?

Re: Olympics 2012 (III)
That was one of the most disappointing non-cricket non-Aussie sporting moments I ever experienced. I remember Mike Gibson on Wide World of Sports saying his son said to him "say it isn't so, Dad" when Ben Johnson was nailed for doping. I never liked Carl Lewis much and was chuffed to bits at Johnson's win.

If he gets caught with any stimulant in a global event now, it's pretty surely a two year ban. It's the national trials and non international events that the national federation dodgy their way out.beamer wrote:Has anyone ever proved steroid use with Lewis, or is it just a couple of tin-pot stimulants that they have pinned on him?tricycle wrote:He'd have been Ben Johnson if he wasn't Seppo. I won't need to buy beer for a while. Seven golds makes my line bet at three for a case every medal look like pure genius. I've got four on the way now.
