Re: ***Official 08/09 Sheffield Shield comp***
Not sure about the Banjos. Kaspa and Birchell are either gone or in Zimmer frames, so the only bowler of any note is Noffke. Batting doesn't look too spectacular either.

Aye. Almost by a process of elimination (and no wishing to woof the Spivs), I keep coming back to the Tozzies.

Wozziers
Best XII
Liam Davis/Wes Robinson/Craig Simmons/Clint Heron/David Bandy
Paris
Bog
Pombasher
Hank
Ollie
Raunchy
Achilles
Midge
Honky
Eddo
MacMuffin
For the Test season Paris and Midge should be missing ...could either have 2 of the 5 as the openers ...or promote bog to open and have Doropolous at 6
If achilles is left out ...North and Voges will have to do a lot of bowling ...Bandy , Doropolous , Robinson and Pombasher can also bowl
Not much back up bowling ....Kelly...and a heap of untried guys
Johnson is a reasonable back up keeper if Ronchi gets a promotion
Wozzies have 3 M Johns(t)on's in their squad

Hehehe, tis the fun of deciphering MB's posts. Can slow down the triv responses though, as I try to figure out WTF he is talking about.

To Wozzie hillbillies, maybe.embee wrote:They're all well known or reasonably straight forward
They're fine once I've worked 'em out (and yes, they are usually quite straight forward) but when you are firing them at a triv question, it can slow me up a tad.

The bi-cranails will bounce back. Most of the other states are full of once-was-promisings (with the exception of SA who are still full of absolutely sweet Frankie Avalon). and Tassie have a few blokes who'll fall sqarely into that category if they don't move very soon.

Aye Nerky. I think lardy's boys are worthy of some unattractive odds to get their 2nd title.

Re: ***Official 08/09 Sheffield Shield comp***
If I was Fabulous Phil Hughes I'd be very concerned about Horrie's unstinting support.
I'd also be worried about repeating Ian Davis and Bad Hodge's second seasons as well as their first.

Surely Queensland will be short priced favourites to win the Shield this season? Ryan Harris is up here now. Enough said.

Re: ***Official 08/09 Sheffield Shield comp***
I had to check his Cricinfo profile to make sure I had his name right.
I'm a bit disappointed that they gave him a contract. Would have preferred to see a young local like Worrin Williams make the team.
