Australia changes the date of its first Saffer test.
It is now just before Christmas on the 17th December in order to accommodate the CL which will be held in early December. It's odd because in the original schedule SA was due to play a warm-up match before the first test and then another between the first test and the Boxing Day and New Year's test. Now it looks like they will come in cold and play three successive tests.
This will probably help us beat them by more than we might have originally.

The lack of warm up games will definitely affect our bowlers' performance in particular. SA is becoming notorious for being sluggish in the first test.

SA should insist on sending its team out early and those players not involved the feast of mammon CL comp should play against shield teams

I wonder if the IPL players will play for their respective domestic sides or for IPL teams?

Re: Australia changes the date of its first Saffer test.
IPL teams have first call over the talent. SA will now only play a two day warm-up game before the Perth test and Malcolm Conn in The Australian has said that we risk having another lop-sided contest due to an underprepared opponent. Steyn, the Morkels, AB and Smith will all be involved for SA in the IPL. Hussey is the main one for us.
I guess there's also a slight risk of injury to players playing in the steamy cauldron of subi grounds.
Didn't fatso tear his hammy in the IPL semis?

Re: Australia changes the date of its first Saffer test.
Why do the IPL teams get first pick of the players. When you think of the likes of Ponting he's a Tasmania player, not a Mumbai SuperKing or Delhi Kingfisher or whatever tubby little Indian franchise happens to be waving wads of dollars the most frantically.

He is a Superkingfishah Bombayduck Tossing Delhi Devil, he is.
He is for sale or rent at every turn.

It's Indian cricket. It's fixed. Get over it.

Months from Oct-Feb are the most pleasant months for playing cricket in India.

I realise that but for some of the non-Asian players it's still tough to play in India and the older players find the pace of T20 frenetic. There's always a risk of an injury ahead of some important test cricket.
