On 'loan' technically.
Released by Essex because his batting was better than his bowling in the end.

Re: Lets all laugh at Surrey thread..........
Seems Alan Butcher (coach) is pissed off big time with Roger Harman, Surrey's chairman of cricket ( ) for having written to the membership apologising for the team's unacceptable performances.
Butch claims it "hangs him out to dry" and "gives people enoug ammunition to have a pop at me"at the membership forum this week!!!
Doncha just love it when a plan comes together!!
Mind you .... bloody Middlesex ain't much better right now - doomed as they are to yet another year in Div 2.

Surprised at Surrey's ineptness this season as they finished last year quite strongly. But they really have looked like a bag of spanners whever I've seen them on TV this season.

Good to hear spang ... though I'd be very surprised you could tell the difference
between said opposition ... both teams consisting wholly of foreign players!!

I don't know Surrey, Eng from Melbourne, Aus, but Surrey Sluts sounds like a great name for a cricket team.
That's all, thanks.

Strange you should mention this seeing as Middlesex just played Derbyshire recently....
Derbyshire XI: Chris Rogers (Sydney), Paul Borrington (Nottingham), Dan Birch (Nottingham), Wavell Hinds (Kingston), Greg Smith (Johannesburg), Rikki Clarke (Essex), Tom New (Sutton-In-Ashfield), Jonathan Clare (Burnley), Graham Wagg (Rugby), Ian Hunter (Durham), Charl Langeveldt (Stellenbosch)
Middlesex XI: Billy Godleman (London), Ed Joyce (Dublin), Eoin Morgan (Dublin), Dawid Malan (Roehampton), Dan Housego (Windsor), Ben Scott (Isleworth), Gareth Berg (Cape Town), Tim Murtagh (London), Murali Kartik (Madras), Alan Richardson (Newcastle-under-Lyme), Danny Evans (Hartlepool)
Maybe Middlesex's overseas players just aren't as good! They need Dirk Nannes and Tyron Henderson to have a chance of winning...
Re: Lets all laugh at Surrey thread..........
Rikki Clarke comes from Essex?
Feck sake.... we shall disown him.

Henderson yes, Nannes ... good yes, but the jury's still out on him.Gary 111 wrote:

Anyway, you forgot the other members of the squad ... Shah (Karachi) Strauss (Johannesburg,) and Silverwood (Pontefract).
Damn, I forgot ... the first two are England "qualified" !!
Ah well, WGAF, they're all good enough to be collecting a couple of million $$$ over the next 6 months
for a few hit 'n' giggle appearances

They'll be blinged up with bats made of gold and boxes made of silk lording it over the peasant opposition.
I can't wait.

One can but hope Gaz - but with a few more pennies jingling in their pockets
and the continuing doubtful leadership issues regarding ET, who knows mate!
A membership meeting three months ago involving some serious arse kicking
following 4 consequitive CC losses resulted in a miraculous revival which sprung
them into 3rd spot and promotion contention - since then however,
the hit n giggle T20 fever plus the team lapsing into their old routine casual ways
in the CC has seen them gain (big time) in one and lose out on t'other.
A Weird season is the best way to sum up Middlesex in 2008 ...

I do.
It's a frank and honest assessment of a talented side who, other than
win the T20 trophy, haven't really done much else besides.
Seen most of their games this season - exciting and runaway winners in the hit n giggle T20 ...
but overall dour and clueless in the 4 day game . Disappointing.
Think Toby Radford (coach) will escape hanging - if only because of the forthcoming money spinners
in Antigua and India.

The Middlesex batting line up does look too good for Div 2, but they don't seem to gel as a side despite a decent cast of batsmen (bit like England really). The bowling is a bit popgun, especially with Silverwood out injured.

You need bowlers to get out of division 2.

They should have enough - Finn and Evans are very good prospects, Tim Murtagh has taken 50 wickets @ 25 - throw in Alan Richardson and Chris Silverwood (although both have had injury problems) and they really should have an attack capable of leading them to promotion.
No spinner, of course - that's always crucial.
Unless you're counting Shaun Udal as a spinner. Which would be wrong of you.
