Er... basketball, football.....
We were still comfortably the 2nd best swimming nation and definitely outdid ourselves in the T&F.
Plenty of positves.

Our performances have been slightly erratic. Many participants have underachieved according to world rankings but there have been some surprise packages. To be round about sixth on the medal tally though is pretty good when you consider our population and how we suffer a bit from the tyranny of distance.

Talking of male athletes, some of the javelin guys are pretty hot. One expects black males to be better endowed than the white ones.
NZ, the Brits and Australia have proved beyond all doubt that they're comprehensively better than SA at sport btw.

Re: Rate the performance of the countries
Overall result for Aust has been quite good although there was a goal of 20 golds before it started. Frankly, if some of the swimmers had swum as well as they should have, 20 golds would have been a chance.
The pleasureable surprise has been the T&F despite the failures of a couple of prima donnas. And if Jana Rawlinson had been available it would have been even better.
Hopefully there will be a wholesale change to the cycling programme as this was easily the most disappointing sport in the games for us.

According to the cycling coach we got it wrong by going for the old blood rather than rebuilding. We will be employing a new strategy for the London games. Some cyclists performed below expectations and the coach conceded that a few have gone to one Olympics too many.

Re: Rate the performance of the countries
'Team GB' (stupid americanised name) have done very well, I would say. Slightly below par in track and field, but cycling and sailing, while admittedly our strong suits, were very impressive.
Im not sure about the other countries because i dont know what your expectations were.
