Missed out on:
Luxembourg (spelling)
Androrra
Malta
Montenegro
Liechtenstein
Kosovo
But those final three are shit-heap places that change their names and ownership all the time, so I feel it was a moral victory.
Wot no Faroe Islands?

Liechtenstein has been one of the more stable countries in Europe over the past two centuries. It didn't even get involved in WW2.

Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are not included for some reason.
I'm sure Kosovo is not officially independent yet. If it's included then the Faeroes should definitely be there along with the Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey and probably a heap of others.

Yeah, it was a shit-heap quiz. Most of the names were made up.

Re: Can you name the countries of Europe?
True. They can't even spell Hungry who spent centuries at war with Turkey, mostly at Christmas.

Re: Can you name the countries of Europe?
Accoring to my History 101 course it was the grease the hungy ones were hoping to cook the turkey in. They ended up with an Ostrich instead which is the German name for Austria.

Re: Can you name the countries of Europe?
my primary school nursery rhyme had Russia getting Hungry, eating Turkey, slipping on Greece, and breaking China.
Apart from the geographical randomness involved, isn't it amazing that those childhood rhymes stay unforgotten, so easily recalled ... long term memory is chemical, not electrical ...

Re: Can you name the countries of Europe?
I've always found it strange that we don't call countries by the same name as they call themselves. It's a bit like being introduced to someone called John but deciding to call them Bill instead.
Some are reasonably understandable, like Italy for Italia. In the case of Germany I suppose it was Germania long before it was Deutchland (not sure where the French got Allemagne from though). But how did Suomi become Finland or Hellas become Greece.

I wondered about that too, but I find that's because they're are considered Asian countries. I knew Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan were in Asia, but thought the other two were in 'Europe'.
