...Behind the stumps. Just watching Highlights of the first ODI between SAF and England and even before this, I've noticed how bloody annoying Matt Priors celebrations and shouts are, especially when spinners are on and he's close to the stump mic.

Atleast Geraint Jones and Alec Stewart made wickets worthwhile and they didn't have an annoying soundbite to them.

I forget the game and even the opponents, but I always remember Alec Stewart barking during a run out opportunity as the batsmen turned for a second run that was never there.

When SL toured in 98 Stewart was in the ODI side and SL and Eng played in the ODI final. Hashan Tillakaratne nicked a single off a dead ball I think and Stewie asked him to forfeit that run and Hashan refused. Next ball he was on strike and Stewie stood close to the stumps and loudly yelled "Come on boys let's get this Farking A$$ole out!". It was quite loud and I think the commentators were quite stunned. No one said anything for a while. And SL won that match.

I remember Stewie giving Ranatunga both barrels after Arjuna tried to walk off the pitch in Australia. Not swear words, just basically something along the lines of, "As a person and as a captain of your country your behaivour has been an absolute disgrace today" - which was completely true. Later SL won the match by one wicket, mainly because the Lankan batsman (Mahanama?) shoulder charged Darren Gough as he was about to run him out.


Though talking about wicket keepers, Ian Healy's famous "You don't get a runner for being an untif, fat, qunt!" to Ranatunga has to take the gold medal.

Moin Khan's vomiting noises were atrocious.

And I got sick of hearing "Shabash! Shabash! Come on Saqi Yaar, Come on!" at the end of each delivery, even if the ball was hit to the fence.
