KP's Interview - no more 'lets take the positives'
And thank fook for that.

Is there a danger that theres a damn good captain in there somewhere? Half the battle is getting the players to perform for you. I guess the test comes during tougher times ahead...

"I don't settle for mediocrity; I want guys to perform, to chuck their talent around and be the best people they can possibly be," said England's skipper.
"There's no point living if you don't want to be the best you can be."

I am glad England have hope again. It is just going to make it even more satisfying when they are crushed into dust in '09.

Meh, we've lost our last 3 series narrowly to the top sides - plenty of work to do before the Ashes.
I like the attitude

It does go to show you what SA has lost. It seems tome that Smith settles more for mediocrity and he lacks, the drive, vision, energy, passion, acumen, and not to mention ability that his former countryman has in spades.

Point taken MB - but it is early days yet.
The encouraging thing we supporters can take from his various soundbites
is his demand for excellence from every individual in the team.
That coupled to the open warning, that there will be no hiding place for those
who underperform.
In other words, so far, the "pet brigade of chumminess" which Vawn
encouraged and stuck to has clearly been slung out for good.
Selection based on performance - something England failed to recognize and implement for 3 years.
Hoo fecking ray. Let's hope "our Kev" sticks to his word.

Only by an accident of birth now and the 'orrible gutteral grunts that pass for speech.
Can't call him Saffie after the embarrassment he caused by leading
the pissing brigade all over his "countrymen" these past weeks.
Bulldog Kev - the Saff part is now history.
Swallow that and smile.

He might have refined his batting slightly in England but his personality was defined by his upbringing.
Congrats on your smashing jamodi series win.

Yes I do rather think that England has benefited by being led by a ruthless saffer. The accent's all right. Southern English accents are pleasant to the ear but the northern ones can grate. I like the saffer accents of the English speaking variety (except Smith's), the Afrikaner ones can be a bit much and they also butcher the language at times those Dutchmen.

We were led incredibly well by a mild-mannered Northerner for 3 years, nigh on beating all-comers. Correlate that shit, cock-knocking gutter-trouts.

Ferk off 'the northern ones can grate', Red.
Well, ok - the Scouse one isn't the best, but your Lancs, Yorks, Geordie and Scots can all have mellifluous tones.
Not such a fan of the one around Hull ("I'll have a rum and curke, Jim") either, but I can't think of any others I don't like.

I like the occasional one. Some of the Scots (especially those from Glasgow) I find difficult to understand. To be fair though the worst English accent is the cockney, it resembles the worst of ours.

It's utter inaccurate, jingoistic claptrap - peddled by nonces, people with Paranoid Personality Disorders and limp-wristed tossers with persecution complexes.

Agreed. And we don't sound like pinch-nosed qunts whilst doing so.
Re: KP's Interview - no more 'lets take the positives'
There are ear grating accents from all over the country.
South Essex is fookin horrible, SE Essex sounds very Australian. Some Brummie and Scouse accents are awful.
Personally I find Cheryl Tweedys accent sexy as hell

A large number of cons chucked on those first boats out were 'cockerneys'.
The Aussie accent is little more than a mutated cockney accent drawled out by a weariness at the heat, and a screwed up face from the brightness of the sunshine.

So basically a cockerney accent spoken with squinty eyes, and a large touch of nasalyness!
