Ishant- Best fast bowler in world cricket right now?

Pace, bounce, movement, accuracy. At 20, he's already the real deal. Lee is up and down, Clark is less effective on flat pitches, Flintoff gets injured a lot.....Ishant is right up there at the moment.

He's the brightest hope that we may have a new great fast bowler in world cricket since Harmison's brief spell in the sun 4 years ago. Shaoib was probably the one before that and Lee before that. Ntini never quite got there either. The last one that actually went on to actually become great was probably McGrath.

We are long overdue.

Certainly a contender but for now i will still go with Steyn.

Reasonable point. Steyn has some pretty impressive achievements already and Ishant is only 20. Hopefully both go on with it (and a few others as well) - test cricket is really struggling for the need of some great bowlers.

I'd agree with the thread topic. His height and movement make him a difficult customer. If his thin body holds together he will be a great of the game.

I forgot about Steyn. He'd be close.

I think we need to hold our breath a bit! This is his first international year. We'll see how he does at other places too. He has done well at Australia (though the stats don't show that), Lanka and India. He needs to prove himself elsewhere too.

a prediction - if he enjoys good medical support and avoids injury, Ishant Sharma will be one of the most decisive pacemen on the world stage in 2 yrs. and very dangerous in english or australian conditions indeed. he is learning swing and has the raw pace. against weaker oppositions like pakis he will scythe through just as a marshall or ambrose would in their heydey. inshallah nobody should advise him to cut down and be the Mcgrath#3 ... we know whats the case of #2
