Re: Jonathan Ross, Russel Brand, Manuel, Manuel's odd looking
The pitchfork brigade in this country haven't been able to jump on any hate-mongering bandwagons for a while.
If they're denied the opportunity to attempt to enforce their "values" upon the rest of society for too long, they get a bit desperate and mobilise their lynch-mob for any old shite.
Number of complaints after the "offending" radio show was broadcast: 2. Both for Ross saying "f*ck".
Number of complaints after The Daily Mail - who Russell Brand has always needled, citing their sympathies towards Hitler in the 30s - suddenly became offended a couple of days later and all the other tabloid spastics jumped on board, thus starting a Brass-Eye style chain-reaction of public condemnations from public figures who hadn't even heard/seen the show, ending up inevitably with the Prime Minister sticking his oar in, in a pathetically weedy attempt to seem current and in touch with the Great British public: 18,000.
What a miserable country.
It was a laugh. No-one died. They apologised for offending Andrew Sachs, who said he accepted their apology and "wasn't out for revenge" - you would think that would be the end of that.
But no. The "grand-daughter" (and aspiring "celebrity") decides to hire a publicist (Max Clifford) and sells her story to The Sun, detailing how devastated and humiliated (as humiliated as a burlesque dancer can be) she is to have been thrust into the spotlight and for Russell Brand alluding to having slept with her. "Oh, and by the way, in this here article that you're paying me for - and that I am in no way using to further my own show business aspirations - I'd like to announce to everyone that I have slept with Russell Brand."
She'll be posing topless for Nuts magazine in a week or so. Guaranteed.
This is a simple tale of bad comedy and bilious opportunism.

Russell Brand is as funny as an outbreak of Cholera.
The point is, it should not have happened in the first place. It was a pre-recorded programme - therefore, the decision to air the piece was down to the producer/editor. He, or she should walk.

I think this puts it in context.
Georgina Baillie, the woman at the centre of the storm, is part of the four-piece burlesque dance group Satanic Sluts Extreme.
According to its website the 23-year-old and her troupe are "four of the sexiest depraved London jezebels" who put on shows which include "blood, guts, gore, sexy striptease and slutty activity."
Writing on her own web page, Baillie, who goes under the stage name Voluptua, says: "I am a member of the Satanic Sluts Xtreme and perform violent, horrific and sexy burlesque shows around the UK and the rest of Europe with my dance and burlesque troupe. .. I like to party, I don't care if you call me a waster or even a groupie because I am having so much more fun than you and living this way makes me happy."

So it was ok to make gratuitously tasteless telephone calls to her 78 year old grandfather then?

The first call wasn't that bad, I've listened on utube, the silliness escalated as they talked about it to each other and kept calling back. It was like when something not particularly funny just tickles you and a few friends and you can be in fits of laughter about something that an in looker looks at you bewildered. It shouldn't have been broadcast, that's true but the reaction is all out of proportion. The apology being given and accepted should have been enough.
And anybody who sleeps with Russell knows full well what they are letting themselves in for, a really good seeing to and most likely some press attention.

Re: Jonathan Ross, Russel Brand, Manuel, Manuel's odd looking
It was bang out of order, unnecessary and, being previously recorded, unbelievable that it was broadcast.
The question is - would Ross have found it as hilarious if the roles had been reversed and his wife and/or daughters were the subject of crude allusions "Hey Jonno, I shafted your Missus three times last week and I now want to marry her and take care of her" ... broadcast to millions as 'a joke'!
Yep ... bloody funny.

Awesome summation of one helluva hyperbolic, unnecessary shitfest.
Re: Jonathan Ross, Russel Brand, Manuel, Manuel's odd looking
She's probably just upset that people found out that she slept with a tw@t like Russell Brand. Otherwise, I can't see what all the fuss is about. Major over-reaction.

I think Russell Brand is quite funny...
Having heard the podcast of the show I found it quite funny although a bit close to the bone. The hooplah since is simply rediculous.

The totally overblown reaction to this b*llocks leaves me sorely tempted to leave abusive messages on Jonathan Sachs's answer phone.

I found his portrayal of Manuel a bit racist to be honest. I want to see him apologise to the Spanish. The c*nt.

Re: Jonathan Ross, Russel Brand, Manuel, Manuel's odd looking
Ridiculous.
Don't get me wrong, ringing a 78-year-old bloke and going on about shagging his granddaughter is pretty tasteless. But Sachs himself doesn't seem that bothered, and if you don't like it, don't watch Russell Brand or Jonathan Ross.
To quote Alan Partridge, "This country...!"
And the granddaughter is so distraught about the whole thing that she sells her story to The Sun... I mean puurlease....

CGAF Dellboy.
I said it was done in bad taste - and still think so.
Pay me 6 mill a year and I'll go around leaving sh!t messages on 78 year olds answer phones.
Brave that hey! No one to answer back and tell them to f**k off! Great fun, exciting quality radio!
Ross and Brand were both qunts, the "gag" backfired, and they both got shafted.
Job done.
The granddaughters a qunt too ... the whole affairs one big farce but hey, it sells papers.

Re: Jonathan Ross, Russel Brand, Manuel, Manuel's odd looking
It was just a basic error of judgement. No more, no less. It wasn't just some random, hate-fueled attack on a frail old man - Sachs had already agreed to be on the show that week (but had to rearrange at the last minute) and Brand and Ross wrongly assumed that he would therefore be the kind of broad-minded fellow who'd not take their juvenile silliness to heart; they assumed he knew what he'd be letting himself in for when he was booked to appear and would laugh off the answer phone messages (as I'm sure others would've).
They assumed wrong, of course. But it's hardly a hanging offence.
What a load of nonsense about nothing.

Re: Jonathan Ross, Russel Brand, Manuel, Manuel's odd looking
Sounds similar to what happened here after an episode of The Chaser, where they performed a song about how even the biggest qunts become top blokes after they've died. They got about three complaints the night of the episode and it was a non-issue until a qunt on the radio had a sook about it and urged his listeners to call in to express their outrage, even though most of them admitted to not even watching the episode. Fortunately it didn't really go any further as by that stage there was a qunt every week looking to take offense to something on the show so they could get themselves some attention.Dello wrote:Number of complaints after the "offending" radio show was broadcast: 2. How many hours does he broadcast to be paid that much?
Glenn Mitchell brought up this story on the cricket commentary yesterday ...only to have a whinge about the guy's pay
