Is India the most "complete" team in the world..
and how can England/Pakistan beat them this winter?
I certainly think that they have almost all their areas covered
Opening- Two Delhi dynamites who not only score quickly but can also take the game away from the opposition in half an hour to 45 minutes.
Middle Order- Dravid has been poor but Laxman and Sachin are still going fairly strong and will be a serious force against Pakistan.
Keeping- Very solid keeper who is a fairly capable batsman as well.
Spin bowling- Nothing outstanding like Murali or Warne but still fairly decent bowlers who can win matches on spinning tracks
Fast bowling- One of the best bowler in the world(Sharma) supported by a highly competent and vastly experienced ZAK.
Only issue is the captaincy but i am quite sure that Kumble will quit before the series against PAK
So can a really rusty Pakistani/English team under the captaincy of romeo Malik/ Kp beat them?

they can probably beat india, any of the top 6 teams can beat the other. but it would certainly be an upset if they do

who is more complete?SG wrote:Is India the most "complete" team in the world?

SL- Missing a top...order
AUS- No spinner
SA- No spinner
ENG- Keeper issue
Not saying that IND is a better team than all of them(not yet) but they do seem to have almost all areas covered while other teams have clear weaknesses.

Even though our overseas cricket has improved beyond recognition, I'd still say lets see how we play on overseas trips.

india's strongest suit of the last decade - the middle order, is going to be a cause for concern in 2 years. rest looks pretty settled, for now

India's potential weakness is that its whole middle-order is ong in the tooth and retirement could be imminent for a couple. India may well have some tyros to take their place but that's not necessarily a given.

Sachin and Laxman look alright for the time-being. Dravid is a worry. If Rohit Sharma does justice to his obvious talent, then MO is not a concern atleast in the near future.

Is India the most "complete" team in the world.
On home turf, almost invincible.
But otherwise - No.
Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Aye, and they didn't exactly thrash a dishevelled England team in the last series here either...taipan wrote:Merlin wrote:

Usual sh!t ... win a match ... dominate the next (on home turf which is expected) and the grossly OTT descriptions emerge.
"Complete" = winning 4 maybe 5 series home and away, on the trot in my book, and no way India will achieve that
(unless they show-horn Bangladesh, Zim, Pak and WIndies into the next 2 years)!!!

They're a VERY good side.
But lets not go overboard.... it's not long ago fans were proclaiming 'who can stop us from being number 1' after they had lost a series!!! And then drew at home to SA when they needed to doctor the last test pitch to prevent a series loss....

Aye, only out and out pace is missing if you want an allround side...

India do have a component missing - i.e. the inability to win away from the subi but nevertheless they cover more bases than any other side.

Middle order. Need atleast two replacements immediately (Ganguly and possibly Dravid), and no one really looks ready.
