definitely the most naturally talented side, most attractive to watch. we need munaf or sreesanth to step up as the 3rd seamer when we play outside the subcontinent.

a strong top tier of AUS-IND-RSA atm

Make that

AUS

IND-SA

Though the gap between Aus and those two is shorter than it has been for a decade.

SA need to win in Aus to have a legitimate claim to the top spot. It'll be no good if they don't win in Aus, then win the home series.

Erm, hasn't it been devilish hard to beat India in India for about 50 years Suspect

So this result (and the Aussie tour a few months back) shouldn't change the landscape that much.

Losing to the Saffies, on the other hand...

Dunno...they won in India last time they toured and we didn't. The only Team they haven't beaten recently is Sri Lanka (apart from us of course).

If we lose the series in South Africa we lose the #1 mantle IMHO.

It'll close the gap right up, that's for sure.

Got a feeling our (almost) 16 year unbeaten run at home is about to come to an end.

Aye. But the good news is that if it doesn't happen this summer, it may well be a while...

There was a time(not so long ago) when there was more chance of a hailstorm in Kenya than for IND to win an away test match but now they have scored some really important wins like Multan(04), Pindi(04), Adelaide, Headingly(02), Jamaica(06) etc. While they have won these away games their home record hasn't suffered much and now they are regarded as one of the top teams on the planet.

Excellent transformation in just 6-7 years

You forgot the wins at Sabina Park in 02, Perth last year and also against SA in the first test last year.........
those wins weren't "important" or certainly not as important as other wins because IND lost all 3 of those series.

India won the WI series in 2006 after that Sabina Park victory.

We also won at Trent Bridge 2007 to win the England series.

I know. And Jamaica is in WI. That is why I said that we won that series in 2006.
