Chris Martin- Worst player with over 50 test runs?

I think the answer was given to everyone today. Although he did manage to get a single IN FRONT OF THE F*CKING WICKET. He must have felt like doing a lap of honour.

Walsh belted a couple of first class 50's. He actually had a pretty good eye. Chandra was crap, but he had the polio excuse. Martin has to be the worst test batsman ever.

Agree - Martin is truly appalling. Seriously, I am nearly 37, overweight and chronically short sighted and I would kick Martin's butt as a batsman.

Devon was better than Martin. FFS, Tufnell was better than Martin.

Walsh's defense and leaving outside off is the funniest I've seen.

Munaf's batting is comical too. But he gets timing and power when he manages to get bat on ball.

All jokes aside, you wonder how after 10 years as a first class cricketer, Martin apparently hasn't improved AT ALL as a batsman. If he has improved, then his batting 10 years ago must have been truly quite scary.

I actually heard a story that his batting is so bad because as a young club cricketer, he didn't drive, so he had to ride his bike to training every day. Because of this, he couldn't bring his kit bag with him, hence no bat, pads, or gloves. He could only fit a ball into his pocket.

Harbi was awful batsman when he started his international career. Now he has improved to a more than adequate #8.

But Bhajji has a great eye. That's something he must have been born with.

Just looking at players who made less than 50 test runs & also taking into consideration FC performances:-
Jack Saunders & Dainty Ironmonger were probably the worst batsmen to play for Australia. They did have a slightly higher test average than Martin.

Alf Hall & Cuan McCarthy were two saffies who couldn't bat. Jayantha Silva (Sri Lanka), Guy Overton (NZ), Father Marriott, Eric Hollies & Jeff Jones (Eng) were all very ordinary with the bat at FC level although Jones at least had his moment of glory with a match-saving 0 not out in the West Indies in his last test innings.

Munaf apparently is known for his big hitting at club level. I find that hard to believe based on what we have seen.

Munaf was indeed a big hitter. but his confidence has been destroyed by frequently shunting his positions during his opening matches.

Munaf's a bunny tailender, but when he slogs and connects, he does have power. Still pretty much useless. India have been lucky Bhajji, Kumble and Zak both have always had a little ability with the bat. Even Mishra is supposed to be useful with the bat.

Munaf hit Harmy for six back over his head on the last tour of India. It was very funny.

Most certainly not, you could have put Sachin Tendulkar in Munaf's shoes and he would have reacted the same way he did.

Munaf is a bit low on confidence as far as his batting abilities go, but it's a matter of building on his abilities by advancing his positions in low-risk situations.

Moin Khan's brother, he played a few test matches but his 2 most famous contributions are getting hit for that big six and then running Tendulkar out in that famous Shhhhhoaib test match at Calcutta in 1999.
