Gavaskar takes on Ponting
SMG has unleashed a full attack on Aus in today's TOI.
cricketnext.com
New Delhi: The war of words between Ricky Ponting and Sunil Gavaskar continued on Sunday with the legendary Indian batsman criticising the Australian captain for "uncomplimentary remarks" about senior Indian players in his syndicated column.
Gavaskar said Australians forgot "that in their own ranks, there were plenty of senior citizens... But when it came to grabbing the opportunity to win the Napgur Test, he put self before country in using part-time bowlers to make up for the slow over-rate".
Gavaskar also took a pot-shot at the Tasmanian, saying, "while he is sporting additional hair on his scalp, nothing much seems to have added to the grey matter."
Gavaskar was reacting to Ponting's remarks on he former India captain in his recently released book Captain's Diary 2008, in which he accused Gavaskar of unruly behaviour in his own playing days, citing the instance when Gavaskar staged a walk-out in a Test match in Melbourne.
Gavaskar took strong objection to his words, and had said the Australians were only "trying to sell their books".
"The Australians have gone home with their tail between their legs, like most dogs that bark and do not bite when confronted with another who stands up and does not run away," he added.

Nice.
With that talent for ststing the absolutelybleedinobvious, Gav would be a natural as a commentator, except most Test grounds the comm box window is too far off the floor for a short-arse like him to see out of.

Gavaskar objected because Ponting pointed out that he is a sooky qunt? As if the world didn't already know that.

Talking away
I don't know what I'm to say
I'll say it anyway
today's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for you love O.K.
Take on me
Take me on
I'll be gone
in a day or two
So needless to say I'm odds and ends
But that's me, stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is O.K.
Say after me
It's no better to be safe than sorry.
Take on me
Take me on
I'll be gone
in a day or two.
The things that you say
Is it live or just to play
My worries away
You're all the things I've got to remember
You shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway
Take on me
Take me on
I'll be gone
in a day or two
I don't know what I'm to say

34 minutes is quick?
Mind you, I now have visions of a wee ugly man singing this at a drunken karaoke night in a desperate, failing attempt to pick up a woman.

I would say recognising it at all is a worry so, yes 34 minutes is exceptionally scary.

Re: Gavaskar takes on Ponting
Woody, you might have started something.
I've already got a number picked out for Bucky, and there's a Linda Ronstadt track from about 1977 that'd be perfect for Trev.
Also notice that Carl Williams chose a Celine Dion song to sing (Oh farq I hope not, try HAVE SUNG) at mummy's funeral. All lines about 'criminal records' have prob already been done......

I don;t know what song anyone coud have in mind for doggaroo, but the Linda Ronstadt song for Bi-ron would have to be 'Blew By You (for fifty bucks)'

And anything by Celine Dion played in public is deserving of a criminal record.
