Re: Will England return to India?
Terrorists have an uncanny instinct and determination to succeed in their tyranny no matter how "massive" the security.
This Mumbai operation, it sems, was 6 months in preparation.
For 22 UK passport holders it was just as well the terrorists' 6 month preparation period did not start 10 to 14 days earlier ... and leave it at that.
FWIW - I reckon the ECB should cancel the trip on the advice of the FO whose web site clearly stated last Friday ... "where possible, avoid all travel to major cities in India due to the increased probablility of terrorist activities at this time".
If that's published for Joe Public, HTF can the England cricket team be exempt from the caution?!
Ah, I forgot ..................$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The back-packing terrorists would clearly have still have got through ... and then what ????
What "massive security".
Harmisson has a wife and two very young children ... cut him some slack FFS.
has everyone stopped using the london tube system or buses since the attacks? has the pentagon been abandoned?

Right now at this very moment, Mumbai is probably the safest city in India, no?

"avoid all travel to major cities in India due to the increased probablility of terrorist activities at this time"
hasnt england been at its second highest level of alert since the past 2-3 years as there is an "increased probablility of terrorist activities"
its a personal decision and i dont think anyone will hold it against harmison if he doesnt tour, but lets not paint this as england going into iraq. madras is as far away from bombay now as zurich was from london in 2005

And I ask, once again, will India be touring Pak next month?

Australia returned to London a week after the July 2005 bombings. Let's be honest here- A lot of the whities just don't trust those primitive darkies in the east to protect them.

it was unlikely before and probably impossible now if pakistan is seen to be the country from where they came and were trained. the possibilities of an attack are much larger and the GoI is not likely to give the go-ahead

or dont like them enough to show any support and maybe too ignorant to grasp the scale of the country

But if the players' safety is guaranteed?

How can you ''guarantee'' a player's safety?

No !
As per Govt records as well as Russian Int almost 50 terrorists were involved in executing this operation.
Only 10 have been killed.

e-mail id of the so-called 'deccan mujahideen' has been traced to Lahore, Pakistan as per IB with help from FBI.

By having a "massive" security cordon around them 24/7....
The perfect environment to enjoy playing your cricket under ...
No pressure mind you!

has bugger all to do with not liking nor supporting or being ignorant .. (and supporting what or whom exactly???) ...
I repeat - Mumbai's atrocity happened a few days ago ... it likely got closer to the bone with the squad as they saw TV pictures of scores of dead bodies removed from the very hotel they had stayed in and were planning to return to !
Moving the venue to Chennai and employing a hundred militia to protect them ain't exactly comforting or stress relieving ... not when the mind's farked with the gruesome images whilst their kid's run around in front of them.
I just hope none of the squad are forced into returning ... and thereafter black listed if they refuse to go.
Such are the ways of the ECB ..

They ruled it for centuries.

I don't think BCCI should host any International cricket for 6 months.
should be enough time to clean up the veritable augean stables

they f**cked it for centuries.
Actually it might be of note here, to mention that ISI was initially created by an Australian named 'Cawthorne' with the intention of the departing empire to destabilize the subcontinent.

So there was no famine prior to England's arrival?
