The Proteas will take on the Retravision Warriors in a one-day match at the WACA Ground on Thursday 11 December, beginning at Midday. The two-day match between South Africa and a Western Australian XI has also been brought forward by one day to commence on Friday 12 December. The first 3 mobile Test Match between Australia and South Africa kicks off at the WACA Ground on Wednesday 17 December. WACA Chief Executive Officer Graeme Wood says the Proteas are keen to get as much match practice on the WACA Ground before the Perth Test. “Following the postponement of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament, we are pleased to be able to accommodate that request with a one-day fixture against the Retravision Warriors,” Wood said. “The Proteas will have a full squad to pick from, so it will hopefully be a fantastic opportunity for Perth cricket fans to have their first glimpse of speedsters Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel on the WACA Ground wicket. “A Midday start also gives many patrons a chance to come down after work and catch much of the second session of play, with stumps scheduled for 7.30pm. “The two-day game will be South Africa's last hit-out before the WACA Test Match and is sure to be a keenly fought affair as they take on a WA Xi featuring several young Retravision Warriors eager to make an impression against a touring team. “In the corresponding match three years ago at James Oval, Luke Pomersbach gave an indication of his immense potential when he smashed 145 from just 128 deliveries, while fellow Retravision Warriors squad members Arron Crawford and Aaron Heal were among the wicket-takers.” Further details of media opportunities surrounding the South African team's arrival in Perth this Sunday will be advised later in the week. What's the point of Daylight Saving if they are going to start the Test at 11.30am?
