Wah-hey-heyyyyyyyyyy. Midge turns the game on it's head with 3 wickets in 3 overs.
Duminy was a bit stiff but it was a brute of a ball, that looked, after 17 replays, to have come off his forearm sweatband.

Midge having a real day out!!!
Softens up Mindy with 2 quick straight bouncers than lobs up a slower ball for the Ostrich to poke to mid-off.
Great bowling. 7-241.

Oh dear ... Saffies mini collapse after a solid start.
Aus taking a 100 run lead into the second half of the match might just be the end for the Saffers at Perth.

Amazing how a bowler can have a day (or in this case a session) totally fall into place. On another day his last wicket would've sped to the boundary for 4 - it was heading down leg side and Harris flicked it harmlessly to the leg gully.
Woody would just like to add - Midge is a grouse wozzie.

They lost 5-8 in 7 overs. Nuffin mini about that, Merls. It's a full blown chokathon (funnily enough, predicted by taips yesty evening)Merlin wrote:Oh dear ... Saffies mini collapse after a solid start.

The WACA has seen some great collapses in its history . . . but today was pretty special as well as Kallis and ABdV looked so totally in control . ..

Joisus, England would be proud of the quality of that collapse!

So apart from the first 30 minutes.
The Aussies have dominated the next two days.
Talk of Australia's demise is greatly exaggerated.

No Aussie has taken more than 7 wickets in an innings v South Africa - home or away.
Midge currently 3rd on the list behind:
JV Saunders 7-34 at Jo'burg in 1902-03
CV Grimmett 7-40 at Jo'burg in 1935-36

I was flicking between the cricket and a show I like to watch on Thursday nights, and it looked ugly for us.
Fark, how quickly things changed. There is something mesmerising about a collapse!!!

I've been flat out the last 2 days and have only been able to flick in and out . . . just tuned in during Lee's last spell (which looked solid, but not overly threatening) . . . then Midge.
It looks like Ponting has at least worked out that Midge with old ball for a spell before stumps is a good thing . . . he seems to be juggling his bowlers to allow this . . .

The Aussies stuck to their task well. Bung bowled very economically and worked ABdV over before Midge got him. Siddle and Crazy leaked a few too many 4 balls.
Maria will be spewing because he hardly played a false stroke before fending a wide one to Haddit, who took a good diving catch.

If I can arrogantly assume we will end up with a 1st innings lead, is this the moment the big galoot FTBs his way to a slightly more prolonged career?

Taips is to doom and gloom for the Saffers as JKL is to the Poms as doremi is to the injuns!
5 fer 8 ... FFS ... Aus bowling peaks in the very first test match!!

Amla looked as solid as. He has improved his footwork dramatically since his entry to Test Cricket.Naeem wrote:Duminy will be hungry for runs. He's been on the fringes for a while and this is a perfect opportunity for him to cash in.
Even the Aussie commentators were praising Amla this morning..

I think many of us have a bit of pessimism in us, Merls. It's a useful defensive position that makes success that much more enjoyable and failure that much more tolerable.Merlin wrote:skully wrote:They lost 5-8 in 7 overs. Nuffin mini about that, Merls.
