Foreign selectors?
Why only foreign coaches? why not foreign selectors?
this will be especially useful in countries like Pakistan where the sifarish system is a big problem.

Re: Foreign selectors?
Wasn't Rod Marsh an England Selector at some stage of his tenure there?

I may be wrong, but I don't think so... as far as I know he just ran the academy. Of course, he may have had hidden input.

And how do you think that foreign selectors will be able to avoid that 'sifarish' system if they are employed by PCB and the sifarish is that from one the board members?

According to crocinfo's profile:
There you go.Taking his talents abroad in 2002, Marsh was teased by his former team-mates for accepting the director's role of the old enemy's new National Academy. A year later one of the toughest men to play for Australia was appointed an England selector,

So Geraint Jones is all his fault then...
I could go back and edit my earlier post, so that I do not look stupid...
But I already have, 600+ times... oh well. To be fair, he couldn't possibly make as big of a hash as our current gang of selectors have.

foreign selector is most likely NOT going to have any liking/disliking issue to begin with.Chandan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:Why only foreign coaches? why not foreign selectors?

I'm not talking about liking or disliking of that selector. What'll happen if the chairman of PCB, say, tells him to include his son...and that kind of sifarish? How will that stop?
You have to clean up the system instead to get rid of these corruptions.

will he have enough time to travel to FC matches all over pak? thats the main job of selectors anyways, the core team always picks itself

obviously the chairman has to be honest to even make efforts to erase corruption at the lower levels...Chandan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:foreign selector is most likely NOT going to have any liking/disliking issue to begin with.Chandan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:Why only foreign coaches? why not foreign selectors?

And if you expect Chairman to be honest, why can't you expect the selector to be honest?

Re: Foreign selectors?
problem with Pakistan is that we are a very corrupt country
Our president is known as Mr. 10% BECAUSE of his corruption...
and guess who appoints the PCB chairman?

Re: Foreign selectors?
Yes, England's selectors a few years ago were David Graveney (ENG), Geoff Miller (ENG), Duncan Fletcher (ZIM), Rod Marsh (AUS) and I think bowling coach Troy Cooley (AUS) also got an unofficial say as he was overlord for the entire bowling programme.
Re: Foreign selectors?
It worked in 2005.
