OK Oz selectors - how about this for a radical t20 idea?
For the forthcoming t20 World Cup, as you seem to have decided now to really have a look at players showing reasonable form in the McNugget form of the game, how about casting a good eye across the IPL?
I think there might be some bloke plying his trade as skipper for the Royals in that comp, who's a pretty useful leggy, and quite handy for a few swift runs if really needed late in the order. In fact, I think his mob even won the subi nonsense cricket festival last year.
There's also a bloke rolling his arm over for the Daredevils in the IPL, who looks like he'd have taken a few Test wickets in his younger days,
Who knows, if you asked them, they might even pull on the revolting grey and yellow excuse for a uniform you afflict the t20 side with.
Warney and McGrath getting one last blast in England? OK, it's not the Ashes, but it'd be great to see it.
You know it makes sense.

Yarp. He was also the second most prolific wicket taker.

It'd be too much to dream for though, wouldn't it?

I'm still not convinced you need specialist bowlers in T20. I reckon a team of 11 batsmen, 6 of whom could bowl a bit, might see off most teams with specialist bowlers ...
something along the lines of: Warner Hopes Watson North D Hussey M Hussey M Clarke Haddin Symonds McDonald Thornley would be interesting
Otherwise, winning the toss and batting seems to be the single most important factor in the game's result at present.

I'm so far from reality that I am still hoping SKW will be captaining our next Ashes tilt.
Give him whatever he wants. A million dollars, a swimming pool full of baked beans, and hot-and-cold running pommy bints.

He'd probably want hot lazing pommy bints, as opposed to the running sort, but I like the cut of your jib, OPpy.

I don't think we've all begged him, nearly enough, yet.

But seriously, what's stopping TGM playing a few t20 matches for the country?

weird stuff
people like Marsh, Tait, Ronchi and other youngsters should be given a chance in T20 world cup.

Screw that. I want the best. Warne is the best. End of.

Why should he get out of bed for less than $10,000 (or the Australian captaincy)?

Me neither; I'd make it retrospective to 2005 if that were possible.

thats true...if Warne plays then it will be almost impossible to beat AUS because even if he fails with the ball that piece of balloon will make sure that he does the job with the bat.Zat wrote:Screw that. I want the best. Warne is the best. End of.

I've thought about this and think you are mostly right but you can afford one or two real bowlers - if you have any side 2 oe 3 for bugger all like we did last night you straight away have a massive advantage. For sure I would have Bracken and Tait in that team ahead of Thornley and Ranga.
I'd probably have Pontiong ahead of M Hussey too!

Perhaps PP thinks SKW is approaching Hindenburgesque proportions in his semi-reirement.
