Radical suggestion:
Replace Ponting with Katich as skipper, now, or perhaps after this series.
Ponting has had a very good run as captain, but he looks fatigued, devoid of ideas, and simply lost without his longstanding lieutenants (Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist). We still need his batting, and he really needs to focus on it, and on his fielding. Katich is a good leader (I am told he was involved in a Shield win and another Shield final fairly recently) and he is in sparkling form with the bat.

- Spoiler:
- Merry Christmas, horrie.
'sparkling' may have been a bridge too far

If Punter was run over by a bus tomorrow, I'd rather him than Clarke ... and he's had more captaincy experience than Hussey.

Re: Radical suggestion:
Hussey has already told the NSP that they can stick the captaincy up their @rse, after his 3-0 JAMODI loss to the Snoozers in the Shaky Isles a couple of years back.

Re: Radical suggestion:
There you are then. Whitey's not good enough to make the side, they've overlooked Marcus North for so long it'd be almost inexcusable to choose him now, Dan Marsh was deemed too fat about 8 years ago, the South Australian captains keep getting injured in a revolving door, and Chris Simpson is new to the job in Queensland. Who else is up to the job of captaincy, seriously?

Re: Radical suggestion:
The lack of consideration of Hayden for any leadership role over the last few years might be enlightening.
Re Hussey: I'm not surprised. He should have been given marks for at least turning up for that series, not copped the bagging he did for not being able to turn dishwater into Chivers Regal.

In the same theme...
Sack Hayden, Rogers in.
Ponting down to four.
Clarke up to three.
Hussey to five.

Re: Radical suggestion:
Can't argue with much there. I think Hayden has until the end of this summer, perhaps even only until after Melbourne ... and if there isn't a massive, confident hundred in there, that'll be it.

Re: Radical suggestion:
Clarke has upped his 'runs going in at 3-50' stats filter recently, and his technique against the new ball has always stood up. A bit of real responsibility now wouldn't hurt seeing as he's the designate Golden Child.
I like the idea but how about we toss a coin and the loser runs it past Capt Clueless....

Re: Radical suggestion:
Who's giving up on the team? I'm suggesting a sensible reassignment of captaincy duties and winding horrie up a little.
The batting order probably does need a re-jig, too, as suggested by Zim.

Re: Radical suggestion:
Well yes. Drunky is just as likely to spit the dummy and tell the NSP he's farking off to play IPL for the next 4 years - which of course would be a massive pay cut for him, but he'd be too stoopid to work that out.

Re: Radical suggestion:
Yep, if Einstein's ego raises a stink just apply the venerable legal tradition of 'hardus cackus'.
Katich as Akela? If we lose in Melb and the series is shot to hell, WTF not? It would be worth it just for Horrie's reaction....
