Blue Monday
Today is the most depressing day of the year.
The third Monday in January has been dubbed Blue Monday after a mathematical formula determined it to be the most depressing day of the year due to it falling after an expensive
Christmas, with poor weather, with pay day still a fortnight away and no more public holidays in sight (the next one is at the end of March).

Oh, and beer is going up 15p a pint.

Re: Blue Monday
According to The Independent, InBev UK are raising their prices by 7p a pint. They brew Stella, Boddingtons, Tennents, castlemaine and Becks.
The moral of that story is stick to locally brewed ales.

Re: Blue Monday
I got up and stepped into some doggie do, which set the tone for the rest of the day. I didn't, however, post here, as my ADSL line was out of order. An improvement on the week before last, though, when we got burgled while I was recovering from gastric flu. And most definitely better than the Sunday of one of my friends. A too long story for now, except that a house burning down, her husband suffering an epileptic fit, her sister stabbing her mother and her aunt's boyfriend dropping dead were among the more peripheral details.

Rarely drink any of that shite anyway.
Wife-beater - very occasionally in the summer.
Boddy's - very 90's.
Tennent's - fark off.
Castlemaine - XXXX off.
Becks - see Wife-beater.
So in summary - what Bas said.

What a crock of crap.
I think most of my answers were either the first or second option, but I'm a 'High Risk' apparently.
Probably some US doctors sponsored website who are trying to drum up business from slightly concerned people drifting past their 'quiz' who they're attempting to scare witless.

Re: Blue Monday
My first answers said I was at high risk, make an appointment or call Call 1-800-SUICIDE!
But then I did it again, choosing mostly the second option and it said low risk.
There must be certain questions that trigger the high or low risk response.
It didn't mention the lack of cricket factor at all.

Re: Blue Monday
Dem and BBB - you are both fine...it is cold, dark and wet and you will pull through...unless you are planning to emigrate, you could I gently suggest (if you are worried about your depressive tendencies) consider finding another national cricket team to support

Up yours, Horrie!
If Dem's theory is correct, it might have been the sleep question that triggered the Risk alarm for me.
Contextually however, that may have something to do with a 6-week old baby who screams like buggery every other night!

Re: Blue Monday
see BBB is better already...imagining the bub will emigrate to sunnier and more positive climes...today it is 29C..., the tennis is on over the road and I know that british player A Murray will raise english hopes for at least another week.
Dem...I prescribe 3 local pasties from your favourite baker and a good stiff gin

Eh?
Does everyone in Britain get paid on the same day?
