Australian Hall of Fame
Current Hall of Fame.
Healy, Giffen, Benaud, Macartney, Noble, Simpson, Rod Marsh, Hill, Davidson,
Trumble, Hassett, I Chappell, G Chappell, McCabe, Border, Morris, Woodfull,
Border, Harvey, Armstrong, Lindwall, Miller, O'Reilly, Bradman, Ponsford,
Grimmett, Trumper, Spofforth, Blackham, SR Waugh
Remembering the criteria:
Retired five years
Played at least 20 tests, or 1000 runs, or 75 wickets
Played tests outside of Australia
Had an impact on the game
Who is left?
Presumably eventually Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Ponting and (less certainly) Hayden will be there but I am considering only those that already meet criterion 1.
Batsmen:
I think Lawry, Ryder, and Brown should be shoo-ins. Taylor, too, given his captaincy.
How about Redpath or Collins? Anyone make a case for Jones?
Bowler:
Not so sure but presumably Turner and Ironmonger would have advocates. Thommo had an impact on the game, that's for sure, but were his results good enough?
How about Johnston? Alderman might be a sentimental favourite.
Allrounders:
Seems most of the standouts are already in the HOF. Maybe Ian Johnson?
Keepers:
Langley? Taber?
Interesting that the criteria are Test-only. Influential and successful FC cricketers (including those of the pre-Test era) don't get a look-in, and nor do those whose impact was in the ODI sphere, such as Bevan.

Damn, yeah, I just brushed through the list and assumed he must be there. The way he's talked about, he's surely a shoe-in in front of most, bar the ATGs of the last 5 years....

I had to double check he wasn't there.

Re: Australian Hall of Fame
I think very few of the suggestions above should be there (other than the recently retired champions).
I would have Turner (he really should be one of the next cabs off the rank), Dougie, Oldfield, Taylor (for captaincy as much as batting), Lawry (vastly underrated batsman) and possibly Boon (first long term Tozzie and all).
Some very good players who probably don't reach the required levels would be Thommo (although I think he will get a geurnsey because of the legend), Billy, Dizzy, Deano, Brown ( champion bloke but he was rarely ever a regular opener), Redpath, ALderman, Ryder, Finglteon and Garth. LAnger and Mark Waugh would be 50/50.
Probably the 3 glaring ommissions to date are Turner, Watlers and Oldfield.
Of the current mob, only Ponting is a given. Hopefully Midge and Pup will be due course.

Ooh, Wally has pointed out a couple more "no brainers" in Tallon and Bardsley.

It's quite a pantheon and should stay that way. Gregory, highly rated as he was, could hardly be called a great, stats-wise.

Billy was a fine bowler but an average of 28 shouldn't cut it in the HoF.

Lillee was an original inductee. Thommo may not make it unless they take the legend of the "fastest bowler in history" into account.

Bob Cowper.
Deano, when all is said and done. The thick-lipped freak was phenomenal until he started opening his mouth.

291 wickets is a HoF effort ...especially as he was No 1 bowler for most of his career
Thommo , Garth and Merv also averaged 28+ ...as does Dung (and you know he'll be in the HoF as soon as he is eligible)

Only if they start taking individual performances into account

"Where are DKL and Thommo?!?!"
One is already in (as mentioned in the OP). The other I suggested in the OP.

Much loved though they remain, I think Merv and Boon don't make the grade.
