Fact is, the guy could rarely stand up for a whole match. I wish the ECB had shown similar ruthlessness with Harami.

well another fact is that NZ would have won a LOT more test matches had they not kicked out Bond....
What NZ did was not just incorrect but also illegal

Bond was rarely available due to injury. Unfortunate, but the guy was as fragile as glass.

Isn't this really the BCCI's fault?

Not really.
Bond was my favourite bowler for some time during the early 00s, before he completely vanished after injuries. Great action, huge talent.

Re: Shane Bond- Career that was wrecked by NZCB
Shane Bond is a quality bowler. The NZCB must surely wonder at what could have been, had he had been allowed to continue with International Duties. His stats tell the tale of a most promising career cut short by jealous Politics in the sport.
Bowling
Tests: 17
Test Average: 22.39
Test Wickets: 79
4fers- 7 5fers - 4 10fer - 1
ODI's: 67
ODI Average: 19.32
ODI Wickets: 125
I agree with Doremi however, the injuries were his achillies heel [no-pun intended]. The fact that he had so many injury issues could have furthered Bond's own decision to move to a safe haven (ICL). In doing so he could play a shorter form of the game, for decent money and still gain large acclaim for his accurate pacey bowling, rather than enduring a stop-start Test career.
However, this theory is purely a stab in the dark, but Bond must have felt very hard done by when he was told he could never play Test Cricket again. As if NZ weren't already struggling in the Test World, they drop they're best Fast bowler since Sir Richard Hadlee.
His worst Test series average was against Australia in 2001, where he only managed 3 wickets at an average of 96.33. However, he can be forgiven as it was his debut series. In retrospect, New Zealand were mighty successful when Bond was around. Out of the 9 Test series he played in, New Zealand, won 5, drew 3 and lost 1 (vs SAF away in 2007).
I've just read on SB's Cricinfo profile, The New Zealand board reacted to this move by terminating Bond's national contract although they did not rule out the possibility of his return. I'm afraid to say, at 33, the Fastman from Christchurch will have gone beyond a return to the Test Arena. If only the NZCB had reacted sooner.
A loss to Cricket.

So he was 32 when he grabbed the ICL cash?
I don't think the NZCB are really to blame here.

A Mix of the NZCB and BCCI then.
The terms and conditions between the boards obviously weren't working out.

Bond was highly effective when he was fit. Sadly his fit days were sporadic to say the least.

NZCB were completely to blame for the fiasco. They gave him f'ing permission to play in the ICL and then banned him.

Bond was shit.
Soft as butter. Never seemed to be fit when an Australian tour was on the offer.
