Bloody hell! Quoting wikipedia for facts is pretty sketchy in the first place, when they're citing the guardian website for that you know you're in trouble!

And if that isn't bad enough its already a year out of date.

Do they have anything on there on who had most shots in the World Cup, and another of the leading goalscorers in the same tournament?

What's wrong with the Guardian website? Yeah. He must have scored all his goals since last year from deflections. That'll raise his percentage from 6% won't it. FFS.

Yes. He had a bad tournament. Maradona's had bad tournaments. Harping on about the 06 world cup is desperation of the highest order.

As I said he's a good player. Thats not what we're talking about.

As for the Prem - it hides all sorts of technical problems in a players game. It's the worst of the top 4 Euro leagues for that. Most sides give the ball away far too easily so it's not a problem misplacing a pass as you'll get it back again 30 seconds later....

Eh? So why don't other midfielders in the premiership score as many as him? Or play as well as him?

Eh? Why does he perform well in the champions league? Are his technical problems hidden there as well?

Eh? What's not what we're talking about?

Eh? Check out statistical analysis of Lampard's game. I think you'll find that he doesn't give the ball away often.

Lamps is a good player LLL.

Methinks you're making too much of a defense for him though. Bar 1 good game at home against Barca, he's not been a stand out player for Chelsea in the CL

Nothing wrong with the guardian website, very entertaining. And I could find lots of good quotes about Lampard on it, or 'Fat Frank' as they call him. I wouldn't present them as facts though!

Its either black or white isn't it? He's world class, he was the second best to Ronaldinho two years ago, as good as Bryan Robson, etc. Don't believe the hype!

He's a decent player, he scores goals. He runs a lot. He can pass a bit. He ain't Kaka!

He would make a good understudy to Gerrard for the England team but they can't play together and Lampard seems either unwilling or unable to change the way he plays for the benefit of the team and the more talented players around him. It was so typically England that an artist like Scholes was shunted out to the left for an artisan like Lampard. We get what we deserve sometimes.

Meanwhile the press hype up a decent international footballer like Lampard to be the best in the world. Inevitably (as they're nowhere near that good) when they can't live up to this everyone turns on them. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.

Answer all my points or none.

Show me non world class midfielders that have been runner up in the World and European player of the year awards.

Interesting to see that istead of Lampard you've gone for a much better midfield combo in Gerrard and Barry in that team, as well as a much better player full stop in Fabregas....

Whats all this World player of the year voting gubbins to do with anything?

George Burley was voted Manager of the Year in 2001 FFS

Lets agree to disagree -
So, as i've said IMO - good player, a little slow, ok passer, good goalscorer.

In your opinion - he's sooper dooper Franky Lampard, World Class midfielder and you have 4 posters of him in your bedroom.

So? What difference does it make if it's the website. They don't make a habit of printing incorrect information.

And it's not answered by other readers. It's answered by two Guardian employees who have used the "Guardian database".

Stop pointlessly arguing when you're completely wrong.

Manager of the year? WTF. That's got nothing to do with world player or european player of the year. Show me some crap players that have won world or european player of the year.

He is sooper dooper Lampard. And he is world class. You haven't rebutted any of my original points.

And all this slow business. Feck off. People think that anyone who isn't Henry is slow nowadays. He's got decent acceleration, which is what counts for a midfielder. Great passer and great goalscorer. Again, find me another midfielder who scores as many goals. Please. I beg you. How can he be only a "good scorer" when there is no-one else doing what he is doing in his position?

Maybe because Lampard is expensive. 3 goals in 4 Premierleague games. He's already near the top of the midfielders tree and he's played less games than everyone else.

You've got no argument. You've been defeated. You've lost. Lampard is class. Good day.
