Wozzies are 4 for bugger-all. Warner might not have to bat. Which would be hella funny.

Re: Aussie Ashes Squad
Here's my suggestion for you:
1. Katich
2. Hughes
3. Ponting *
4. Clarke (or Hodge if his mum lets him come)
5. Hussey M (or Cosgrove if available)
6. Ronchi +
7. Lee
8. Hauritz (or McDonald on a seaming wicket)
9. Casson
10. Nicholson
11. Tait
Rest of squad to be fitted in acc to injuries etc.
You need the sheer speed, and may need the balanced attack of the two spinners.
Look, I'm trying to help you lot here ...

Nicholarse is talking up Watto at the moment:

Can't possible see Ronchi going, based on his finish to the season (being dropped).

If they only take one keeper that's a ridiculous gamble, all we need is to leave a stray cricket ball for Haddin to step on during the warm-up...skully wrote:Ronchi if they take the 2nd keeper (and this will ensure that TAYPODGE is not chosen )

Re: Aussie Ashes Squad
There was talk in the media a few weeks ago about only sending a 13 or 14 person squad and having a 2nd keeper playing County or below. Hughes and Hussey can keep wicket if desperate

Re: Aussie Ashes Squad
So on current form and the current Test squad, the most likely 14 would be (non-certs in bold):Nath wrote:There was talk in the media a few weeks ago about only sending a 13 or 14 person squad and having a 2nd keeper playing County or below. Hughes and Hussey can keep wicket if desperate

Re: Aussie Ashes Squad
He has scored nearly 1000 runs in Shield games this year at over 70. He gives some flexibility, being able to open and allow Fleas to slide down the order if injury hits. And Jaques (if that's who you mean) is out of form.PeterCS wrote:wtf is any spiv doing proposing Rogers? When French Frere is begging for a call.

Nah, I am on record as being fully supportive of the best possible side Aus can put on the field, Spivs or no spivs. Except when it comes to TAYPODGE whose file must surely be marked NTPFAEA.

Surely you could field an XI of gimps and knock us over? We haven't beaten anyone but the Sheep shaggers & Bangles for the past few years.

Subi
Midge
Siddle
Hilf
with Pup and North to add a bit of variety . . .
Subi would be a straight sawp for Ronnie . . . and he's a better bat . . .

Aye, that looks a good attack. I'd be very confident of defending the Ashes with that seam attack.tac wrote:Subi

What I like, skull, is that they all bring something a little different to the table . . . Midge the lefty with pace and bounce, Siddle a little mongrel who cuts it into the right-handers at good pace, Hilf who swings it away and Gump who gets it to nip about with a bit of bounce in the Pidge mould . . .
