My younger son is playing an 88 year old in our bowls club singles championship. The age discrepancy is 70 years.

One of my mates joined up at his local tennis club around the time of their annual championship ....he signed up to play before he really knew anyone at the club ...He sniggered when he drew to play a ONE LEGGED player in the first round ....he got beaten 6-2 by a bloke hopping around the court ...he never played another game at the club

A few years ago I got beat by a one-armed man in the first round of a tournament in Bateman's Bay. It was one set, first to nine, and he beat me 9-7 (I lost the first four games easily before I worked out how to play him).

I felt a little bit better when he made the final however - he lost in a third set tiebreaker!

To make matters even more bizarre I lost my second round mixed doubles match that year to... another one armed man - this time missing the opposite arm!

It turned out they were playing together in the men's doubles!

I should add, it goes without saying that everyone that weekend was calling me "Richard Kimble".
