Let's all laugh at John Dyson
Confidently telling his players to come off the field, getting a little nervous when word comes through that maybe England actually won, and finally sheepishly looks at his sheets one last time in an "But I was sure we'd won, sobby dobby kind of way.
HAHA.
It's bad luck that the poor Windies players have an Aussie ignoramus as a coach.

I actually rather liked Dyson as a player. He got a ton in Headingley '81 and another to hold off Holding-Croft-Garner-Clarke.

I didn't like him so much when he was given not out when two metres short of the crease in the ashes deciding test in 1982.

Dyson was thought to be in the running for the England coach's job. Is it possible that he has managed to lose two jobs simultaneously?

Not really. I thought that decision was a testimonial that went with his application. Maybe he loves the English weather. Or Charles.

Funnily enough though, who cares? It's embarrassing but ultimately it is an utterly meaningless match.

Still, it's highly amusing that a coach could have all the numbers at his disposal and still fark it up and signal his team to come in. I laughed.

It does take a bit of the gloss off Pillock's World Cup stuff-up, though.

Re: Let's all laugh at John Dyson
Well, at least this was just a relatively meaningless JAMODI, and the first match of a series of five. The SA cock-up knocked them out of their home World Cup at the first hurdle so still takes some beating...freddled gruntbuggly wrote:It does take a bit of the gloss off Pillock's World Cup stuff-up, though.

Natch - All ODI's outside of the World Cup are meaningless.

Maybe Dyson was trying to inject some interest in the rest of the series.
I still laughed, though.
