when was the last time the top 4 batsmen averaged over 50?
for any test side?
indias current top 4 (after 2nd test vs NZ):
gambhir (52.02)

the aussies had langer who never hit 50.

Aus had Hayden, Ponting, Hussey, and Gilchrist all averaging over 50 for a while I think.

yes. 3 tests later only one was averaging over 50. one player was dropped after the 1st test at adelaide never to play again. another one saw the end of his career after the series. we lost 5 tests in a row against aus and sa

I dread to think when the last time England's top 4 all averaged over 50. Fairly sure I wouldn't even be alive at that time.

ganguly was at the same stage of his career as gambhir, 2000 odd runs and a similar age. hopefully gambhirs average isn't going the same way
gandhi and ramesh had a combined total of 900 runs. maybe i should have said a minimum of 2000 runs
