Windies squad to tour England........oh dear!!!!!!
It's a 17 man squad as Gayle, Shiv, Bravo and Edwards will miss all the warm up matches as they will be playing IPL.
Batsmen
Chris Gayle (c)
Lendl Simmons
Dale Richards
Devon Smith - wtf? Why why why??????
Ramnaresh Sarwan
Shiv Chanderpaul
Brendan Nash
Narsingh Deonarine - 1000 + runs at a high average, he earned his place.
All rounders
David Bernard Jr - Decentish medium pace, can bat a bit. Like a very poor mans Dwayne Bravo. Why is he there?
Darren Sammy
Denesh Ramdin (vc)
Bowlers
Andrew Richardson 6 feet 4 inches tall, aggressive right arm fast medium bowler
Jerome Taylor
Nelon Pascal Another one from our midget fast bowler conveyor belt. 86-92mph and extremely aggressive.
Fidel Edwards
Lionel Baker
Suleiman Benn
Dwayne Bravo will be in the side for the ODI's and 20/20 World Cup. It is clearly a cop out so Bravo can play almost the whole IPL. But why deliberately weaken the team?

How is Bravo getting way with not playing Tests, i.e. what's the official reason? Fitness?

They just said he will join the squad for the ODI's. No official reason therefore it is clearly an IPL cop out.
Ramdin is in there and will captain the side during the warm up matches.

They've decided it's a waste of a place having one - 8 batsmen, two all-rounders and a bowler should be enough to draw both Tests and retain the Wisden Trophy!furriner wrote:And where is Ramdin? Who's the wk?

Chairman of selectors just said that Bravo was advised to rest from the longer version of the game.
Apparently he can play 20-20 though. I find that a tad hard to believe.

WI will play 10 batsmen and Jerome Taylor. Shiv will only field if required
Pity about Bravo, but at least the others look like turning up.

Where's TAYPOC Powell? I thought the ICC had made a ruling to say they had to pick him to give England a chance...

We are getting rid of the non-performers slowly but surely. Darren Powell is history thankfully, no more short wide four followed by verbals to put up with.
The chief selector said he felt Devon Smith was 'on the verge of a major innings'. Never mind that he has stunk up the place in his career. Never mind that we have an 18 year old with 1600 FC runs at an average of 50. Apparently he 'isn't ready'. How many times do they need to see Smith reach 20/30 only to miss a straight one as soon as the spinner comes on?
I am happy that they have decided to give 2 decent fast bowlers the chance finally, but they have made a number of mistakes.

Taylor is a decent batsman in his own right nowadays. He played the shot of the tour during the Barbados test. So make that xi batsmen. Lovely jubbly, the Wisden Trophy stays in the Caribbean.
the match winning XI for Lords:
Gayle
Richards
Sarwan
Simmons
Shiv (the fielding dynamo)
Nash
Ramdin
Taylor
Benn
Richardson
Edwards

I think they will play Baker ahead of Richardson, they have great faith in him for some reason

Lets hope Richardson or Pascal dominate the tour matches and therefore force the issue. Baker is accurate but brings nothing else to the table.

It is disturbing to see a 'Brendan', an 'Andrew', and even a 'Dave' in the side.
