Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
Sounds like there was quite a bit of work to be done, both excess bone removal and removal of bone fragments. God knows why there was still so much to do, but maybe, just maybe this may sort it. We can only hope.

Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
Jesus - stop cutting him open. Just let the guy rest up properly without rushing him back the second the stitches come out.
His injury has been 'managed' quite pathetically...

Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
Does sound like there has been poor management, but if there were fragments that needed removing and excess bone growth then really there was no option but to operate.Dello wrote:Jesus - stop cutting him open. Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
This time give him the proper recovery period. If he's not quite ready for the 2008 season, don't rush him back

Doc... would he have got those fragments from bowling since his last injury or could they have been missed?

Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
I suppose it's only natural to try and rush someone back when it's the player who is crucial to the balance of your side.
I think the selectors need to plan for life without him now, and if he comes back at the level he was then that's a bonus. The trouble is every batsman who can turn his arm over or bowler who can hold a bat will be hailed as his successor for the next 10 years...

Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
I was wondering the same. Really don't know. If he did then the outlook would seem poor. I suspect it is more likely that they were the result and debris of previous operations, in which case, if they were the main problem, this op. may make a big positive difference. You really shouldn't get bone fragments from wear and tear, even with the excessive forces of fast bowlingJKLever wrote:doctorspin wrote:Does sound like there has been poor management, but if there were fragments that needed removing and excess bone growth then really there was no option but to operate.Dello wrote:Jesus - stop cutting him open. That is the problem with operating. You can cause as many problems as you are trying to cure, not that there was any alternative to operating on any of the occassions.

Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
Who decides when Flintoff can resume playing? The German doctor who operates on him? Lancashire's doctors? Flintoff himself?

Re: ANOTHER OPERATION!
Cant see him playing Test cricket again unless he starts batting better and more consistently than he ever has done before in his career. He's not good enough to bat at six, and he's not fit enough to be part of a four man attack. Conundrum.
