hmmph..the world loves it when the pomgolians are optimistic
So after two monstro sized wins and having found 2 champ bowlers and a champ batsman, it seems the english are full of optimism about an easy thrill kill in the Ashes...is this a case of 05 revisited or 06/07 when pomgolian hubris led to a 0:5 result?

I love your attempts at shit-stirring 'orrie old son!
Right up my street - and here's looking forward to glorious exchanges over the next three months!
Anyway you're going to need to summon up all the putrified humour you can possibly muster and squeeze from that cold roman carcass of yours this summer!
Sod the WIndies capitulations ... that was a walk in the park ... however it bears no resemblance whatsoever to the battles ahead ... but I suspect the Drunk and his unkempt, prison attired, arrow shirted boys will have their arses handed to them ... just a suspicion mind!

Depends on who Oz picks ...and how fit (mentally and physically) they are ...
I hope they work out they don't need to play a spinner

dear me...merls I thought the better of you...i found the idea far fetched that you of all pomgolians would be so insanely pollyannaish about your team's prospects...the pride of the pomgolian comes before the ignominious fall...already i can read your erudite posts after the 2nd test calling for change in the batting line up...i have opened the goat and examined its entrails...in that holy steam I can see merl's entreaties to the pomgolian selectors "BRING BACK IAN BELL"

Won't happen 'orrie....nor will Virgil enter the mix (unless he piles on some serious runs).
In all reality though - it will be a tight series.
The bowling for both sides is well chronicled and IMO well balanced (apart from Aus not having a tweaker).
Aus undoubtedly have the batting edge ... but NOT when it's damp and overcast!
If however, Cardiff is, as expected, a raging turner, Aus could be farked, first up.
Thereafter it'll be nip n tuck, with exposed batting (bar the Drunk) on both sides, whilst the bowlers push the right buttons.
Question being - which bowlers will ?
For the first time in a long time it might - just might - appear that the selectors here may have got the mix right ... time will tell.

Re: hmmph..the world loves it when the pomgolians are optimistic
Punter was just on radio saying they will be targeting Strauss first and foremost. Perhaps some of the old West Indian way of weakening morale among his teammates if he's not performing.
The squad will be announced at 11am and is expected to contain sixteen names. All contracted players have been instructed to wait by their phone until 9am when they will be informed of their selection or otherwise.
The biggest posers will be related to Watson and Symonds with it unlikely that both will get the nod, the makeup of the seam bowling squad with some suggesting on tonight's news that it's not a certainty that both Clark and Lee will be included and the question surrounding the spinning position(s).
Hughes being so prolific has solved the opening position after it looked problematic during the Aussie summer.

The Eng/SA series was meant to be significant for bowlers yet the best on both sides averaged over thirty last English summer.

But Taipan the big Morkel took 15 wickets at over 30 and he was one of their bona fide bowlers. Kallis is an all-rounder. In any case it doesn't change the fact that despite all the hype about how it would be a bowlers' series, that nobody really stood out.

It's a moot point whether or not Kallis was the best bowler. Afterall he took five fewer wickets than the oversized Morkel who was the strike bowler.
Find me proof that he was the best. I also watched that series quite closely and the commentators pointed out that during the Headingley and Edgbaston tests the large sibling was unlucky and that his figures didn't do justice to him. I'm sure you have a DVD of that series so check this out.
If you can prove that Kallis was a better bowler I'll concede!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
