What can you do?
England is basically Durham and Notts these days anyway. Do we even need any other counties?
Shut them down, that's what I say.

There are reasons, which I won't go into, that I can't accept that particular answer.
Re: Another forking kolpaker....
Isn't this kind of stuff happening in county cricket a reflection of the goings on in the country overall?
One day there might be a Polish cricketer playing for England!

Maybe. But these guys aren't contributing to the welfare of English cricket!
Whereas the immigrants to this country do give something back...

Quite an average signing as well. It's a shame when Munday took 10fer in the last match of the season that he won't have a chance of playing next year.

If Munday can't show himself to be a better bowler than Omari Banks then he doesn't deserve to play next year. Or ever.
Banks is shitehouse (to answer Bob's poser).

Re: Another forking kolpaker....
Looking at his FC stats; 66 wickets at 26, surely he already has done? But the big bods at Somerset obviously want an Ashey Giles like spinner.

Re: Another forking kolpaker....
Banks has improved quite a lot overthe last year and has developed a doosra that got him a hell of a lot of wickets in league cricket in the West Indies and the UK. He played a trial match against a Hampshire side including Sean Ervine, James Bruce and Shaun Udal and scored 110 and 69, while taking a 5 wicket haul to boot. So its not that difficult to understand why they signed him.
Omari clearly decided that he wasnt going to get picked for the West Indies so why bother trying. Tbh there are at least 6 spinners in the Caribbean who have outperformed him and the only thing that hes got going for him is that he's young and is developing into a good batsman at 6/7.
Good luck to him but I hope that is the last West Indian I see joining a county on a kolpak deal.

Re: Another forking kolpaker....
I believe some people can bowl the 'doosra' without chucking it.
Alex Loudon can. Sadly, he's utter crapple and his ability to bowl one that turns the other way is the only thing of interest about his game.
"Who's that useless posho at Wawickshire?"
"Narrow it down."
"Bowls a doosra. Is useless."
"Ah. That would be Alex Loudon."

Re: Another forking kolpaker....
Bit sus how every hopeless spinner gets a doosra and then starts picking up wickets . . . look at Murali FFS!

That's what makes Loudon so unique. He's got a doosra and he's still appalling.
Re: Another forking kolpaker....
Indeed, he sounds quite "spesh".

Thats harsh, he was only with Leicestershire for a few weeks playing for the 2nd xi, and was given a first team opportunity for a 3 day warm up match against Pakistan.
He will do a good job for a Somerset IMO, I just think there are plenty of English equivalents and that Omari gave up on his West Indies career way too quickly.

Re: Another forking kolpaker....
Loudon is pants. He's only in the WCCC XI to make the Kolpaks appear to be a good investment.
Omari Banks ... FFS.
I guess this is the long road towards closing those training centres for young cricketers because they cost loads to run and don't directly contribute towards generating cash for the counties shareholders. It will eventually fall to the ECB to find funding for training centres so that they can raise future generations of England cricketers.
