Shite captain - worse than Brian Lara - and that's saying something.

Unfortunately for Gayle, it happens to be in the two forms of the game that don't really count. Sorry for interrupting the drool-fest.

Sounds like you are coming down with a case of H1N2 more commonly known as sour grapes

It's a fact though isn't it? You don't hear people claiming Sourav Ganguly to be one of the greatest players of all time just because he has an outstanging ODI record.Aberforth wrote:Basil wrote:Aberforth wrote:Basil wrote:Shite captain - worse than Brian Lara - and that's saying something.

Gayle will never be remembered as being as good as Lara or Richards.

Or even Chanderpaul.
Still love to watch him bat. Brutality and poetry, all in one.

You are talking about 2 of the greatest batsmen of all time.
But i wonder with increasing emphasis being placed on the shortened versions of the game, if Gayle may be able to sneak in ahead of Chanderpaul in the overall reckoning

Hardly.
This is simple. Gayle will be remembered as a great ODI player. Chanderpaul as a great player.

Oh please! Gayle might be a decent player in a form of the game where a shorter attention span is required, but when push comes to shove in test cricket - he doesn't cut it.

I don't think it's fair to say 'he can't cut it'. He's not a great test player, but a very good one.

You're joking right. I am as big a Chris Gayle fan as any but to say he is without peer in ODI's and 20/20's is ridiculous.

He has the only International 20/20 ton to date and his ability to hit fours and sixes seemingly at will is unmatched.
His ODI record is remarkable when u look at it closely. he has already managed 19 ODI 100's at a rate of 1 in every 10 innings. He averages over 40 and has a very good strike rate of 82.45. He is already a great ODI batsman.
