Don't flatter yourselves....
Oh yes, I remember now.
It was the start of the great English renaissance under KP.
I don't believe my question was who won the 2008 Eng-SA series? It was who last dominated a test series in England and it would have to be 2001 Aus
We had chances to take out the 1st & 3rd tests before winning the 4th so as I said don't flatter yourselves.....

Exactly, but chances nonetheless. So therefore don't flatter yourselves...
I'm looking for the last all conquering side to completely dominate the home side to the extent of a 3-0 home defeat.
Has to be 4-1 in 2001 & before that 1993 & 1989. Only other side that has come close was Pakistan in the mid-90's

I'm quietly confident ..... let's just say that England will compete this time round.
If it's an unsettled summer - England will shade it with their 4 quicks.
If a boiler, then the Aus batsmen could dominate ... unless England play 2 spinners - in which case ... England will shade it again (Aus are shite against spin).
Prediction : 5 -0 England (Doing a Beefy/reverse Hawaii here).
Realistically : 2 -1 England.

While a 2-1 or a 2-0 result looks most likely either way, a 5-0/4-0 o even a 4-1 win for Aus would be a huge surprise this time around. It will be very close I feel. 1-0 either way or 0-0/2-2 kind of draws look impossible. 3-2 isn't looking likely as 1 test at least will be drawn somwhere, I think.
I don't think either side will pussy foot around for 1-0 leads or boring draws the way India-Pak do, though.
I just think a very huge win-loss gap isn't likely this time and will be most closely fought than ever in the last 2 decades! I feel England have a chance for a repeat of the last 2-1 home success. But Aus showed in SA it is down but not all out yet so can't be very sure.
Nevertheless, I back England 2-1.
Like I said on final test match thread, looks to me like fans outside of England show more respect and faith in the side sometimes than die hard England fans here.
Take a bow Merlin. You were the only England fan on this thread who showed some confidence!

Realistically, I said 1-2 to Australia.
Might still be.

More chance of someone smashing the 100m and 200m record twice each in two consecutive major championships.Rob I wrote:Realistically, I said 1-2 to Australia.

More chance of Tiger Woods losing a major lead on the final day to Ying and Yang, or whatever his name was... or Man Utd losing at Burnley, or... you get the idea!
