World Cup in UAE
pak wants to shift its matches to the UAE. good idea?
on the positive side it give pak some semblance of hosting rights. on the negative side it spreads it out a bit too much geographically, flying in and out will not be convenient. maybe they can base one of the groups there, but all knock-out matches to remain in the sub-con. weather suitability may also be a factor, dont know if its cricket-friendly at the same time as the sub-con

Would make sense to base a whole group there...

Pfft, just divide the matches between the other three countries, or even the other two if Pak have problems with India getting their matches.

Re: World Cup in UAE
Even if the group involving Pakistan is allowed to play its RR matches in the UAE, what happens if and when Pakistan qualify and are forced to play in India? Maybe by that time they'll have kissed and made up.

Re: World Cup in UAE
india wouldnt have problems hosting pak. if pak doesnt want to play i guess it will count as a forfeit
the finals is in bombay anyways, so they would have to play there if they make it that far. would be quite interesting if the pakistanis did make it to bombay after 26/11. i wouldnt like to see the kind of reception they would get here

Pity that really. Its not the Pakster team to blame but I guess you can't blame the inflamed disposition of the Indians either.

What about the games in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh? They will need to be moved too...

Re: World Cup in UAE
This is another example of the ICC having no idea.
It's sad that Pakistan won't be able to host matches, but moving their share to the UAE is just silly.
The World Cup was already spread too thinly over four countries. Spreading it over three countries increases the concentration and should make for a better World Cup.
If Pakistan's angry that India will get more matches then they just need to get over themselves. The World Cup belongs to the world not to any particular bloc or country.
