Ashes Commentators
Apart from the regulars (Gower, Beefy, Hussain, Atherton and Bumble) and Warne, are any others are on board for Sky Sports? Tawny Greig? Holding?
Tony Lewis should probably get a gig.
Can you imagine a stint of Nicholas and Lewis in the comms box.

Fawning over blonde seamers (with an odd bit of Hello?!! Hello!! like a lobotomised Leslie Phillips) meets fawning over the MCC (with a lot of yawning like an elephant seal). Great.

Holding is pretty incumbent I think. Maybe one of their less reputable ones will stand in like Allot.

Willis usually does the highlights programme in the evening with Charles Colville.

Willis was commentating yesterday on the Lions match, it was good to hear him again.

And of course any Aussies who don't have Fox will have to put up with the collective 'wit' of Mo, Magoo, and Marto during the breaks...

Re: Ashes Commentators
Disagree PJ ... in a box previously loaded with batsmen (Warne's addition balances things), Holding's the only one who talks sense when commenting on bowling, especially the quick stuff ... Beefy tends to rant on whereas MH tends to be more analytical on action, delivery, choice of ball, etc... and invariably he get it right.PearlJ wrote:

It is, however, amusing when he attempts an offering on batting technique ...

Hmm, I better go out and buy some razor blades then.
Bob Willis was excruciating to listen to during the 2005 Ashes Series. Luckily I listened to the Channel 4 team most of the time, but sometimes I had to make do with Sky's coverage.
He moaned non-stop in his whiny moaning voice. It just went on and on. And it wasn't just the fact he was wildly pro-England. Geoff Boycott was super-ultra-mega-wildly pro-England, but I loved his commentary. Boycs sounded like he was having fun. Willis sounded like he'd escaped from a Radiohead song.
