The short ball will be the way forward though. Expect Broad and Flintoff to pepper him with them.
All I can say is SA must have really bowled a shower of short sh!t outside off stump. In English conditions just bowl between the body and off stump on a consistent line with a leg slip and offer no width at all. If he can rack up score after score then good luck to him...

If only Chris Tremlett wasn't so injury prone...Hughes would have been his bunny.

Pietersen to do his one-man army trick when we're 80/5 at one stage - that's not so much a prediction as a statistical fact for any series we play against a team that isn't shit. Or even a team that is, a la New Zealand.
Broad to be shit.
Jimmy to be half-shit.
Swann to be innocuous.

Re: The Defining Moments of The Ashes 2009 (Predictions)
Ian Bell, called in at the last minute for the first Test, destroys a ravening, vicious Australian attack on a crumbling second innings pitch even as the rest of the English team collapses around him, and wins the Test hitting a 6 off the very last ball and getting to 300*.
After that he scores a hundred in every innings he plays and wins England the Ashes. He is then made a Duke by an appropriately grateful Queen.
Mark my words.

the final defining moment has already happened with the PomLions decision to gift bung a 5fer....earlier versions of defining moments were the selection in the touring party of Horrors, bung, the serbo chokarian, haddit and Gump (who is short of match fitness)

Don't forget that Harmless was gifted a fourfa. Bung/Harmison - I'd call it even.

Possible. He probably should have that tactic figured out any day now. Which is when he'll get really mad.
But seriously, I think (without much basis in anything I have read, just conjecture) that a story that the press have missed is the incredible (IMVHO) pressure on Ponting, or the pressure he probably (IMVHO) has put on himself. He's back as keptin. He lost the last one when he was in England. He's Ponting.

Taipan comes out of the closet and unzips for tac. This leads to a chain reaction which ends with Ravi Bopara and Graham Onions vomiting on a good length at the Oval, whilst Ricky Ponting watches with a massive erection and Michael Clarke runs around like a headless chicken lamenting the decline in communism.

I predict that fans from both camps will talk a pile of sh!t for 2 months with a sprinkling of "get that up yez" and a final "congratulations, the better team won the series".

Who was complaining? I stated that we had a bunch of arseclowns for umps for the Ashes... I didn't say they would favour Australia
