So we need to write a paper.....

....in the summer vacation, and I decided to write about test matches Vs ODIs and T20s. Now I know pretty much what I'm going to write in there but any help or suggestions will be very gratefully accepted.

You need to write a few pages on how the BCCI is the devil incarnate and how India should be banned I'd have thought.

Tests shit on all other forms of the game. End of.

Tests: Good times.

ODIs: Bad times.

T20s: BanIndia times.

I'm sensing a consistency of thought here.

In other 'so we need/wanted to write' news, I just passed 80,000 words in my attempt to write a novel. I'm surprised that, a) I have gotten so far and, b) that it's actually alright. No ambitions to be published or owt but it's been fun and will be an achievement to have completed it to tuck away somewhere under my bed and say 'I dun it!' I'm projecting 150k words as a finish. I might get one copy of it self-published so the final majiggy looks tarted up.

It's pretty bleak, aye.

Everyone's a bad guy. No hope of a happy ending. Lost of double-crossing. Brilliant ending though.

More or less 15 pages of.

Merits of, then.

Easy:

1. Intro. The genesis and rationale of T20 - as neutrally discussed as possible

2. Main arguments adduced for , and possible merits of, the T20 format. Try to be sympathetic, otherwise you will come across as prejudiced and not worthy of an academic debate.

You can concede the weaknesses of Test cricket.

3. Counter-arguments (a. flaws in the format - e.g. possibility of endlessly expanding undeferred gratification going round in ever decreasing circles until it finally disappears up its golden-goose-killed arse; and maybe b. what is T20 never likely to feature that Test cricket in particular does - or at least, can at its best.)

4. Summary/Conclusions .... maybe predicting future trends into the bargain.

I would concentrate on T20 v Tests. Include ODIs as a main feature, and you are fighting a war on two (or three) fronts. Recipe for disaster. Ask Hindenburg. Ask Hitler.


NB: Don't forget to acknowledge your liberal quotes.

You still need to get in a section on the stasi-like BCCI and their threat to world cricket.

Alternatively,. praise Modi to the skies, and send him two copies, with your newly-opened bank account details (inputs only).

History of test cricket in popular culture/society would be interesting.

What update of these two literary efforts? Has Chiv been published by Mills and Boon; has doremi had a large sum of money inserted in his account from Lalith le Qunt? In fact, have the black helicopters taken doremi away?
