No argument - but that is what makes it strange. That small minority should not be the sort that listen to Queen, LZ etc. When I was a yuf, a JJJ top 100 would have been more likely to include the Dead Kennedys than those 2.
At least they showed the grouse sense to not vote in any U2.

Imagine is at number 11, and there are a few Beatles numbers in there.Blackadder wrote:No Elvis in the top 10 (or 100 for that matter)
No Beatles
No John Lennon (ie Imagine)
No Beach Boys

p.s. and Space Ghost got it wrong. It is named "the Hottest 100" not the best 100 songs. Sementics I know, but a less wankish title

Actually looking at the top 100 they seem to have gotten far more of my favourite songs than most polls like this seem to get.
Shame we don't get this radio station over here.

As an added bonus, you won't have to keep your Ricky Ponting love in the closet.

You have to admit the Queen and LZ songs chosen were all-time classics. But I think jjj has lost its edge compared to 10 or 15 years ago.G.Wood wrote:Zat wrote:I can't see how it could be called a 'best songs' list. It was a popular vote by a very small minority of the population.

Displaying my innate spiv smugness - JJJ lost it's edge when it went national and they decided they needed a set play list.
Fair enough deciding that we should share something that good with the rest of the nation but dumbing it down so the billies could understand was going too far.

They should've set up state by state versions. Maybe a couple of national programs. Then there could've been statiosn in NSW and Victoria playing quality local music, and in Qld and WA people banging rocks together.G.Wood wrote:Displaying my innate spiv smugness - JJJ lost it's edge when it went national and they decided they needed a set play list.

Haven't you been lectured about NSRing.
Apart from Savage Garden, the music out of Brissie has been pretty grouse. Same for Perth for that matter

1 It seems that after all the Antipodean "Yeh mate, get yourself down here for a great life and we really value your skills..." seduction; global recession hits and the Brit expats are unceromoniously kicked out after being made redundant....noice...
2. It seems pretty much ALL Aussies either a) think RickkkyyyyAAAAAa is a farkin idiot plonker who gives idiots (and plonkers) a bad name or b) have to hide their Ricky-love in the closet because of a)
Any comments....Mr. Woody?

1. Any Englishperson who believes an Australian telling them "we really value your skills" deserves what they get. They should also be thankful that they, as non-subis, just get unceromoniously kicked out rather than unceromoniously kicked.
2. Fair point. He'll have to go to Tasmania - which afterall is one big closet.
