Who can be England's next Hussain and Fletcher?
Well? We need a couple of dreary hard nuts who can force their hand on the awful England selectors, get the group of players that they want, and mould them in to a team of strong characters who are hard to beat.

Bit harsh to dump on Strauss and Flower just yet. Remind me about Fletcher's first series in charge!

At least Flower is upfront about things. Still not sure about Strauss yet - think JL's dossier was spot on there.

This is actually Flower's third series in charge. Lost to the Windies away, beat them at home when the ball was swinging around corners and the Windies players couldn't give a f*ck, and now set to lose the ashes.

or alternatively wasn't really in charge during the WI tour, won his first series and if we draw this it'll be the best home series result apart from 2005 for 25 years.

It's Flower's first 5 match series as the formally appointed coach.

I recall in 2006 against Pakistan at The Oval, that Asif (fresh out of injury) was running through England. Until, the fiasco began.

England needs to bribe one of the umpires into suddenly and unjustly accusing Australia of ball tampering. Ponting would be stupid enough to forfeit.......

What Nasser and Fletcher did with that bloody awful team was really quite remarkable. I think he's England greatest captain in living memory. Feel free to slag me off.

I share the Nass love too. Would've been what Vaughan was were he to have the team. Probably even better. + he was a good number 3, a spot we haven't filled well.
Re: Who can be England's next Hussain and Fletcher?
Is it my selective memory, or did Nass seem to attract hideous umpiring decisions more than the norm?

Maybe, but I just remember him going through a trot of hideously freak dismissals.
What about that one that was a long hop, pitched half way down and never got more than a centimetre off the turf

Re: Who can be England's next Hussain and Fletcher?
If Nass was the paramedic who stopped the bleeding, and Vorn the physical therapist who got the patient dancing again, Fred was the drunk driver who wrapped him round an Australian lamp-post.
Now apparently the poor sod is dying on the side of the motorway and needs the paramedics again.....
