At this rate YES but i don't think Rafa is going to win too many slams after the age of 26-27 SIMPLY due to the way he plays the game

This was Nadal's WORST surface and he won the slam with out any trouble what so ever(only lost 1 set).

Re: **US Open - Official Thread**
That is why he has become very selective about which tournaments he partakes. He took a long break after Wimbledon. You will see him do that after the US Open as well. He has realised that it is one way to increase his longevity.PlanetPakistan wrote:Josh Carney wrote:So Rafa > Roger > Pete ..... Me thinks so.

People have been saying that for yrs
People used to liken him to chang and hewitt and I remember people saying that he would be finished at 25, the only thing that was finished at 25 was his personal grand slam.
He is hitting the ball much flatter and serving much bigger than he used to, so points are finishing earlier than before.

If Nadal had not been around this era then Federer would have won 2 grand slams by now. I hope he doesn't beat Federer's record as Federer is far nicer to watch, but I think he probably will end up beating him.

Re: **US Open - Official Thread**
If both of them were at their peak i'd say Federer is better. Just quietly, Rafa is probably stronger mentally. Federer is a fantastic front runner but hasn't battled back from adversity (ie 2 sets down) all that often.

Re: **US Open - Official Thread**
The aspect that impresses me about Nadal is his ability to learn, evolve and conquer his weaknesses. Unlike Roger who appears to be naturally gifted Nadal's case seems to have been one of mind over matter. For a man who was not given any chance outside Clay to be able to conquer all the other surfaces one by one is phenomenal, something the likes of McEnroe, Sampras, Edberg and Lendl could not achieve.

I'm not sure what you mean by that
If Nadal was the same age as Federer, Roger may have only had 2 grand slam tournaments at all. When Rafa was injured.

Laughable, Federer's game is clearly not what it was a few years ago, I think you are forgetting just what an unstoppable force he was at his peak.Don't quote me wrote:vilkrang wrote:If Nadal had not been around this era then Federer would have won 2 grand slams by now. Nadal may break Federer's grand slam record but he hasn't a hope in hell of breaking his grand slam semi final run.

I think you are forgetting that Nadal is a better player than he was 2 yrs ago, esp on the hard court.
Thus Roger was getting pumped on all surfaces by a Rafa that wasn't even at his peak then!!
