I think the "the opposition is even worse" line is just a load of bunk people hear so many times they start believing it's true.

All oppositions look bad. They are the opposition. They don't have the public service at their disposal and the varying factions are constantly blaming each other over the fact they aren't in power.

They are often reduced to rumps, limiting the size of the pool from which they can draw a shadow cabinet.

Actually, how many people in NSW could honestly tell you the names of five state shadow ministers without resorting to Google? Hell, how many people could name you two?

There was a time when the opposition in NSW genuinely lost the plot, but that hasn't been the case for a while now. Using the line "the opposition are just as bad/even worse" doesn't cut it as an excuse for propping up this festering cesspit of boils we call the NSW Government.

I mean FFS, the ALP are talking about FRank Sartor being the next Premier - he is the most despised pollie in the state.

Fair points. Though if people can't name ministers or their shadows you could claim they have no right to be involved in the political process. I voted for the first time in 2007 and that was only to make sure JWH got the arse. But at the same time I took enough interest in local politics to know who was who.
