The principles behind levitation would have been exposed to physicists with the invention of the variable accelerotron. that happened around the 1950s, I am sure advanced physics was aware of the concepts behind such phenomenon from then on.

Whether levitation is possible or not, this guy is a magician, i.e. illusionist. Must say, best thing about the picture is that most people in the background don't look too surprised or awed at seeing a guy float down the street... Laughing

You can't just say "keep an open mind" over something that is physically impossible. If I claimed to be able to morph into a tomato at will, that would sound pretty crazy right?
