Re: Wasim Akram's wife passes away
taipan wrote:Personally I had no problem with the joke but didn't the Aussies here get a tad uptight with those who disrespected Jane McGrath
I personally thought McGrath was being overly wussie during that incident in the Windies. If he didn't want his wife dissed he should have shut his gutless trap up. If I was the Windies batsman I would've just clobbered the bastard for being a hypocritical prick.

Fair call Braddles but I was referring the Aussies here who got overly sooky when she died.

Hey sad! But if you can dish it out but can't take it you're a big girl's blouse. I've made jokes here but the worst thing I've seen was Jane and Glenn on Denton justifying Glenn's outburst after he'd accused (help me here was it Chanderpaul) of homosexuality. The guy fires back and Glenn sooks.
I was disgusted to be an Aussie supporter. I didn't want her dead either but McGrath only managed to resurrect a rep because his wife died. Boofarkinghoo. Happens all the time.

Wasn't it Sarwan?

Re: Wasim Akram's wife passes away
It was Ronnie Sarwan and it was a little too akin to the DKL/Javed incident for my liking. Pidg asked Ronnie what BCL's snorkle tasted like and Ronnie retorted something like "ask your wife" (if I remember correctly). Pidg then went on like a pork chop, spitting the dummy and threatening Ronnie.
It was embarrassing at the time and still embarrassing now. Pidg shoulda just said "Meh" at the retort if he wanted to start with that line of sledging.

I think I said as much at the time. It was a cringeworthy moment right up there with DKL v Javed and Drunky slagging off the smirking Feltch after the Pratt run out at Trent Bridge.

I thought DKL showed admirable restraint. Haven't you ever wanted to kill Javed? Though SL Rodney would've been top of my list of cricketers I'd be prepared to go to jail for.

Re: Wasim Akram's wife passes away
Of course. I think Javed was one of the filthiest cricketers going around but the way DKL stood behind Tony Crafter (in that ever so weak "hold me back, hold me back" posture) throwing every curse word he could at Javed, was just weak-as-piss. I was in shock when I saw it on late night TV after getting home from Uni.
After much banter and sledging, Javed brushed him in running through for a run. DKL then let go with a gay little kick into the Pakster's pad and Javed threatened to crown him with his bat. Then DKL went on with the p!ssweak histrionics.
It remains the one disappointment I had in the great man.

Look at the way he always had his shirt unbuttoned to the navel and that silly medallion on the chunky gold chain.

Hehehe, Village-people-ist.
I think you are getting 70s daggy dress sense mixed up with gayness. Even I did the shirt open and bouncing medallion as a teenager, until the pendant whacked me in the teeth one day and nearly caused serveral K worth of damage.

I guess DKL thought Javed would fight fair and not come at him with his wood...
