Morkel the 'new Garner'!
There are certainly some ex-English cricketers getting excited over his talent.

A bit early to be talking in those terms, especially given the number of roads he'll be bowling on over the next few years. In fact Steyn said at the presentations that when they get a helpful deck they have to 'fill their boots' because they don't come along that often.
The significant thing though about the Steyn/Morkel pairing is that it's the first time SA has had two fiery bowlers together for some time. I always thought that Pollock 'wasted' the new ball a bit in his latter years because he didn't have the wicket-taking fire or penetration. Ditto Ntini who had lost his venom and was going for runs. Finally they have a lethal looking combination. It was actually quite fun to see a couple of virile young quicks running in with a crowd baying for blood.

Meh, looked pretty bland in Durban and couldn't bowl a side out in 141 overs in the 3rd test.
They're both quality bowlers but steady on the bandwagoning peeps

Agreed that it's too early to tell. If he puts in more of these performances regularly then maybe we can talk about it.

Steyn and Morkel needed a pitch with some spice in it to be as effective as they were. Let's see how they go on an Indian featherbed before declaring their greatness.

Everybody does it. KP and Prior are rubbish, how the hell did Prince ever get a Test spot, Duminy has a future as a spin bowler, Stuart Broad can't bat - all based on one series.
