Geez that was ordinary cricket from the Bangers . . .they can manage a few good sessions, but continually let themselves down . . . .

With SA in disarray India should be untroubled to win the series but the Banglas did well to go through a series without losing by an innings.

Hard to argue, Red, unless Smiffy can somehow "take the positves" out the debacle in Seth Efrica today.

I think it was Vikas who said something as ostentatious as "If Bangla can get a 200 lead, they could trouble us". Like that was ever going to happen. Typifies Bangla that they cannot even build an innings together. You must blame the top scorer. Pathetic to get out as he did. But then, they constantly chuck their wickets away by trying to play ODI cricket in Tests.
Re: Bangladesh vs India, 2nd Test, Mirpur, Jan 24-28
Shahadat’s grunting is annoying. Almost as annoying as Monica Seles’. You’d think he was hurling them at 150 clicks plus. He just got lucky that the umpiring was so lax (though he got warned once) and Indian batsmen seldom pull and hook. IMO, he wasted the new ball. KP’s predicate of a pie-chucker comes to mind.

We are quite capable of goofing an odd game to minnows, when least expected. Remember the last WC? Among regular teams, we have probably lost most ODIs to such teams like Bangla [2], Kenya [2] and Zimbabwe. We have probably lost 2 tests to Zimboks as well. Nothing like trying to get a reverse woof going, hoping it won't catch up this time.....

I'm all for the odd foow, I just thought it was wholly unrealistic as they play like they just don't give a shit. Of course, now I say that they'll actually play like a Test team against England. But as it is, they chuck their wickets away and try to bowl magic balls six times an over. Like kid's cricket. They've played enough Tests by now to know how they should go about things. But they don't. Not so much a dig at you, a dig at them.
Re: Bangladesh vs India, 2nd Test, Mirpur, Jan 24-28
India didn't win a test until 20 years after they joined the Test arena.
And they're number one (despite not deserving it).

They didn't play the abundance of Tests in that time though. I'd warrant that Bangladesh were, by far, the worst team in terms of Tests taken to win their first. Furthermore, they had genuinely World Class players like Amarnath - not just possible ones.
Re: Bangladesh vs India, 2nd Test, Mirpur, Jan 24-28
Not discounting that though. Bangladesh are mentally weak, and in the most part, largely untalented (bar a couple of spectacular cameos).
As a unit, they're one of the worst in history. They never gel together. It's like they're all out for the limelight themselves and don't care if they lose, as long as they make a big score or take a 5fer.
It's like working in a bar if you play for Bangladesh. You get a large tip, but the bar gets robbed. You go home and don't think about the robbery because you got a large tip. AKA Tamim's 151.
Don't think he cares much for the overall series loss because he like manye of us, saw it coming.

We have bigger problems than Saffars:
1] Dravid & Laxman, our crisis managers and middle order batting backbones are out.
2] Our bowling as was seen in Bangarland is crap barring Zaheer. Even then his back up like Sreesanth is iffy and Ishant isn't back to peak form yet. Bhajji is crap.
3] We will suddenly have new players like Vijay, Badri shouldering pressure and having a trial in a middle order all by themselves against a very good side. take out GG, Sehwag and Sachin [God forbid anymore injuries here] and suddenly you have an inexperienced middle order that may collapse on it's own frequently.
Plenty of more problems suddenly. India's best bet is having 2 absolute roads with no hope for bowlers. I can see it coming.....

That probably explains their ordinaryness in tests,
Shakib, their skipper admits,
"When Shahadat [Hossain] and [Mohammad] Ashraful were batting we may have got slightly relaxed. They had made batting look easy. We were laughing and chatting in the dressing room and somewhere, at some point, we relaxed and we were not thinking about the game as much as we should have done."

Just heard that Abhimanyu Mithun has been included for the SA series test squad.
